While I am still just a mother of almost three small children, I have over ten years experience managing teens in the fast-paced and challenging environment of bagging groceries at a military commissary. The teenage boys were always rambunctious, but surprisingly reasonable. The girls, however, were much more complicated to deal with. It got to a point where I relinquished that I really needed to learn more about dealing with their almost daily angst-ridden issues. My friend, who was majoring in Psychology at the time, suggested this book:
Reviving Ophelia: Saving the Selves of Adolescent Girls by Mary Pipher. I know you may not have the time nor the inclination to read a book right now, but it's SO worth it. Once I was able to see beyond my own personal frustrations, I was in a much better position to help the girls through their troubled times. We even managed to build healthy, respectful relationships with each other. Try it out...blessings to you!
