I am looking for any other moms who's kids have the Molluscom virus. My daughter contracted it from going to the pool last Sept and we are fighting it. Please post about what you are doing to treat it and if you Ped said to just let it go away or to treat it. Hoping to find some moms going thru the same situation as me.

Well glad to see that I am not alone in the fight. I also found a yahoo group that has allot of other moms who are fighting this to. I ordered Zyaderm from Amazon and also liquid Echinacea/Astragalus a herbal supplement for Deep Immune Support. I am hoping that with both the bumps will disappear. I will keep you all updated on it. My 5 yr old boy has had it since February. He started with one on his foot and two on his chest. We treated the foot thing and its gone so now we are treating the chest one. We just use compound W. Now I just saw a small on on his back last week. They only hurt him when we put on he Compound W.
We don't know where he picked his up. We got to Misawa Jp in September.

My son, who just turned 16, had the same thing. I took him to the dermatologist, in January of this year, and he told us that it would go away on it's own. He said to keep it covered at all times because it is very contagious and will spread. My son had it under his right arm and started wearing undershirts to bed and they did eventually just go away.

According to WebMD, the Molluscum VIrus is a self-limiting disease in people with normal immune system and will clear up within 6-9 months. However, if you would like to treat individual lesions, you can do so with the same medication used to treat warts, as these are caused by viruses as well.
My daughter has them also and like most of the other moms the doctor's advice was that they would eventually go away by themselves. Our pediatrician did also advise putting tea tree oil (Teebaumöl in German and available at most stores) on the affected spots. This doesn't completely remove the "bump", but does seem to be diminishing them a bit until they can go away on their own. The stuff smells like Pine-sol, but isn't as corrosive as the wart removers. Hope this helps.

My son had then. the ped said just gnore it and they will go away. they did go away but he has tiny poc marks where they were.
I have 2 little girls and they both have had this virus. I would say don't worry about it too much. In about 9 months they will go away. If your child is scratching them try to help the child not scratch them. My oldest daughter had them on her arms, I kept long sleeves on her etc. You can always have them frozen off, but I think its more trouble then its worth. The experience of freezing them off would be more tramatic then just having them.
