Yes, I have this issue about one week a month. It is most likely due to your hormone levels being a little wacky. I, too, gained weight at first and couldn't figure out why I was hungry all day every day. Now I only get it that week prior to my period, but it sure is annoying. It seems to help if I add extra lean protein to my diet. Also, sugars can make it worse, so you may want to stay clear of that temptation. One thing that really helped me is taking a magnesium supplement. They are really cheap and have tons of health benefits, including balancing out your hormones. It helped a LOT and I highly recommend it. It will also help your constipation issue and the digestive problems that may be contributing to it. Good luck:)

Here is the response I gave for another question:
I was a hourglass without trying for most of my life. It was awesome. After hitting my 30's I started to gain around my middle. Yuck. Thought it was because I was getting older. After 3 years of my midsection gain, my Dr. says, "Hmm, your body shape has changed. I guess we should test you for diabetes." What! You wait 3 YEARS to say this!!!
I have diabetes and hypothyroidism. :( Now that the weight is there, it's next to impossible to get rid of. If you start changing shape, be proactive and ask for reasons it could happen and tests to confirm. It's so much easier to handle it early on! (Yes, I have a different Dr. now, and yes she is great, but the weight is slow to move! Especially after having twins)

When I was diagnosed with PCOS I was put on Metformin (before I got diabetes). After being on it for a few days, I remember telling my mom,"Wow! This is the first time in my life that I can remember not being hungry all the time!" I was a normal teen with 'bad' periods every month. I weighed about 125 and was 5ft7in and large framed.
I wasn't put on metformin until my late 20's when I was diagnosed with PCOS.
I would definitely get it checked just to be sure. Hunger, thirst, frequent trips to pee, and weight gain in the belly are all signs of metabolic disorders, and those disorders are on a huge rise! I would rather be safe than sorry!

Yes right now and I like somebody's answer: that it's due to stress.
It used to be because I worked out hard but back then I ate really well and would eat 6 times a day (3 light/lean meals w/3 low fat, small snacks in between).
Now that I have my baby I'm LUCKY if I get to workout so I think mine is currently due to stress.

Im not like that all the time but I do loooove to eat and cook. And you can tell! Im a sweets person big time, but around my period is when its the worst. Im a sahm and I really don't eat all day but if I buy cookies or something bet your butt im going to eat them!

I am a total snacker, but I am getting better…sort of. I am trying to eat things that keep me full longer….like oatmeal, bananas and chili. When I snack, I try and make it on things like fruit, veggies, almonds or pickles. I am addicted to CANDY…love it. Not chocolate so much, but chewy candy. I want to stop consuming it, bit I can't!!

I also do better when I log what I am eating. Try lancearmstrong.com It's a FREE site where you can track your food, calories and exercise. I find I won't put something in my mouth that I shouldn't because I am going to have to log it and be angry having it stare me back in the face!

I do this when I'm stressed to the max. I will eat anything and everything; I'm compelled to keep on nom nom nomming!! It's a bit scary to be honest. BUT if I get SO busy that I don't have time to eat, it gives my stomach time to shrink a bit so I can't eat quite as much the next time. The only thing that really helps is to drink water constantly through out the day... keeps you more full ;)
