Hi Moms..
Just wondering if any of you have ever had a Brazilian Blowout? I am interested but the cost has mostly kept me from doing it. Any experiences would be helpful...positive or negative. Few questions I have is how much does it averagely cost? How long does it last? Did it make your hair staight or did you have some body left? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi! I've had the blow out done twice. My hair is naturally curly, but with the curl comes frizz. The first time my hair was considerably straighter although it wasn't stick straight and definitely had body left in it - no frizz though. My hair dresser had heard that there is usually more success with the Brazilian if you have color in your hair. Since I only had the top highlighted we decided to add color to the back. My 2nd try took 95% of the way. I only have slight wave in a few spots at the roots and it's easily blown out straight in those areas. The more you have it done, the smoother your hair can get and the longer it can last. For the most part it lasts 2-3 months. Now, my hair doesn't curl up in the humidity like it did before the Brazilian when I would wear it straight. The down side is the cost and the fact that you can't wash your hair or sweat for a full 24 hours after the process. No tucking hair behind your ears, no pulling it back, no sunglasses on top of your head until after the first shampoo. Also, you must use shampoo/hair products with NO sodium chloride in them. I know so many people who've had this done and swear by it!! If you have any more questions, let me know. Good luck!

I had it done last year. It did cut down on the frizz I had when I dreis my hair, but I also noiticed it seemed to relax my natural wave too. That's the only thing I didn't like about it...I mean I like the option of letting my hair dry naturally and having wave.

I just started hearing about this, too, and my salon (Cole's in Eagan) just started to offer it. From what my sylist has told me (she is certified to do it and has also had it done herself) is that it is the miracle cure for kinky, frizzy or unruly hair. She said it works for all hair types as well. I have thin, blonde hair and can't wiat to have it done. She said it should last about 15+ weeks for my hair type and will cost $250. As soon as I deliver my 3rd baby in January, I will definitley do it (although it is great for your hair and "salon natural," it has not been tested on pregnant women so to be safe, we have to wait). It's expensive, but so worth it if you have to straighten your hair every day. I can't wait!!

Hi! I'm a stylist and at my salon we do Keratin Complex treatments instead of Brazilian Blowout. We all love the results, and Keratin can last 3-5 months, which is a little longer than a Brazilian. It is expensive, $350, but it really makes your day to day styling so much easier. Usually you are left with some body in the hair, but the frizz is what is really gone. I'm sure if you decide to do it you will love it!
