Sweetwater is a good one, also Hannah's off the square. Hannah's is a nice restaurant but my husband and I have been to their bar just for drinks and it was nice too. The Loophole on the square is a sports bar but it's not bad either.
My husband and I went on a Date night last night and we finished our dinner early then went out searching for a bar. We could not find any that looked worthwhile. We are looking for a nice comfortable laid back bar with a crowd of people our age. No major dance clubs or college bars. Can anyone recommend a good place?

Hi, I'm in Denton, and I only know of 3 that i've been too with my friends. If your into country, theres the Rockin Rodeo, off of 35E and McCormick (I think thats the exit) It's by Ponchos restaurant, and UNT. Good age group mix there, Sports bars, is Rockys on University, And a quiet laid back place is Master Grill in Old Navy shopping Center on loop 288. I like going to all 3. Good luck, have fun and a cold one for me. : )
Burgundy is a restaurant with a bar just west of the Square in Denton, on Hickory. They have an excellent wine selection and it is not your typical college crowd at all--more of a young professional kind of places. Dan's Silverleaf in Denton is also supposed to be nice, although I have not been. They have live music pretty often.
We went to Wine2 (or Wine Square, something like that) on the Square, and that was nice. It's small and has a very homey feel. We actually tried some new beers there that they had on special, but of course, they had a nice selection of wines as well.
we like Sweetwater bar in Denton just south of Square.
