Bought this for my mom for Mother's Day. She adores it. It's easy to work, to clean and you have a huge variety of coffee, tea and even hot chocolate.
She's only had it a month and she's thinking of buying one for work too.
Hey moms,
I'm a huge coffee nut. I've heard through the grapevine that the Keurig coffeemaker brews some great coffee. I've looked into this coffeemaker and it seems pricey. I'd like your opinions if you own this coffeemaker--is it worth the investment compared to a regular coffeemaker?

My mother in law and sister and law both have one and love it - but.... have had lots of problems with the water tank not heating. My SIL has had to call the factory/manufacture and have it replaced 3 different times already.
But, like I said.. they both LOVE it. The coffee is really good.
Enjoy!
We have one & absolutely love it! Like others, though it has some issue with the pump & sometimes it will act like it pulls the water and then not brew. We usually turn it off, then back on, then beg it to start working again, lol. We love the coffee so much that we just put up with the little hassles. We got ours at Costco, so I am going to return it to get a new one-since it seems that just as many people don't have problems, so maybe I will get lucky this time. That's what I love about Costco too-they will return it with no questions asked...my friend returned hers without the receipt or the box. But I highly recommend it! I did some research on it and all the models have reported problems with the pump except for the mini...but like I said we love the resulting coffee soooo much, that we just deal with the issue-and for us it doesn't happen too often.
Hi there,
As a former Keurig owner I can tell you I miss mine terribly. Here's my story. We also heard great things about the Keurig. We received one as a gift from my FIL last May. We really loved the convenience of it. The only thing my husband didn't like about it was if you use the personal K-cup (a filter that you can put your own ground coffee in as opposed to the pre-packaged ones you just stick in and brew) you have to rinse it out each time and repack it with fresh grounds and it took some time. I made the coffee most of the time and this didn't bother me. Also, the prepackaged K-cups can be expensive, the reason we used our own coffee most of the time. The personal K-cup is about 15 dollars and you should replace it every 6 months or so. Worth the money it'll save you in the long run.
Now, the problem we had with the Keurig....it worked fine for the first few months. Then, the coffee started brewing awfully slow and it would only make half a cup sometimes. We called the company on three separate occasions and they helped us troubleshoot. After the third time (and by this point we were getting fed up with the coffee maker) they agreed to send us a new one. We didn't even have to send back the old one.
So we got the new one and it worked well for a week. Then it started doing something really weird, no water was coming out at all and the water actually went back into the water reserve! The guy I spoke to on the phone said that is definitely not supposed to happen. They agreed to send us a new one. At this point I said I just want a refund, but I guess because it was longer then 30 days, they couldn't give us one. They sent us another new Keurig.
It's still sitting in the box, and I really miss using it although it gave us so much trouble. We had bad luck with ours, maybe the third time is the charm? We replaced the Keurig with a Cuisinart that has a carafe so it keeps the coffee warm, but not as fresh as brewing an instant cup. I miss it in the afternoon when I want a cup and I want it fast.
My hubby and I talked about just using both. One for the morning and one when we want a quick cup and don't want to go through all the work of making one cup with the regular coffee maker.
I would just recommend buying it through a company that has a good return policy in case you have any problems. QVC, Kohl's, or the company itself.
Good luck!
I have one and LOVE it, my husband crabbed about it when I got it because of the price and now he also loves it.
I actually bought another one so that I could take it up to our cottage so I could have great coffee up there too.
Get one from Bed Bath and Beyond and use a 20% off coupon, its worth it. Or if you have a SAMS club or COSTCO card go there, you get 72 coffee pods and the filter for the same price as at other stores.
Happy drinking
Love it! As a mom of 2 little ones, you can't beat the convenience. I still keep my regular coffee pot handy if I'm having company over or want to make a big batch for ice coffee. my only complaint would be that the k-cups are kind of pricey (40-40 cents per cup), but much cheaper than dunkin donuts coffee!
I got one for Christmas and it is the best present I have ever gotten. Now, it is pricey and if you are a person who will sit around and drink a pot of coffee in the morning, it might not work. I love it because I can make my 1 large cup to go in my travel mug for my trip to work.
I think overall I have saved money because before I got it, I stopped for coffee every mornign and since getting it, I have bought coffee exactly 4 times.
I would said it is completely worth it!!!
i have a keurig and i love it!! i would say if you are the type thats drinks a pot of coffee a day this will be a pricey way to drink coffee. what i did is i bought a cheap 12 cup coffee maker so when i have holidays and parties i brew coffee in that so people can drink as much as they want. now the nice thing about the k-cup they have a self fill k-cup (buy seprate 19.99) that when you do not what to use your k-cup coffee's you can fill the self fill cup with the coffee of your choice and you will not have to use the pre-filled k-cups all the time. the best price around is at costco. you get the coffee maker, the self fill k-cup and 30 or 40 coffee sample pack for like 139.99 we just bought this at x-mas for my mother in law....and it is the new style which sells for 179.99 by itself at bed bath and beyond. so to answer your question i think you will love it...that coffee is great and they have so many different coffees to choose from not to mention tea and hot coco. i buy my k-cups from costco also you get 108 for 47.99 check out the costco website. hope this helps :)
LOVE ours! We've had it for over two years I think and use it pretty much everyday. You can use regular coffee, it comes with a coffee grounds holder if you didn't want to buy the special K-cups. The K-cups come in so many different types of flavors, even hot chocolate and iced tea. I say it is pricey at first, but we rarely get coffee anymore. Just yesterday I made iced coffee similar to Starbucks.
I have friends who had one. They liked it for awhile, but then it stopped working as well. They switched to a Bunn, and LOVE it. We had a Cuisinart that dispensed the coffee directly into your cup, not carafe or pot to clean. It was great for over a year.. then, as I think happens with a lot of coffee pots, it slowly stopped heating to as high a heat... which is what REALLY makes the difference in how your coffee tastes. When we switched, my husband really wanted the grind and brew. We got it, and the coffee is fantastic, but it is kind of a pain to clean due to the grinder part. You don't have to use the grinder... but it does make a difference in the way the coffee tastes as well.
But we both drink a couple of cups daily, and all of our family who visits also drink coffee. I would think anything that only made individual servings would not work for us.
The key to ANY coffee pot is how hot the machine heats the water. So any of your run of the mill coffeepots (mr. Coffee, etc) are NOT going to be as good, just because they don't heat the water as hot. Most of the higher end ones (Keurig, Bunn, Cuisinart, etc) DO heat the water a lot hotter. So keep that in mind when you're shopping. To us, it was worth it (ours cost around $120).
i didn't read all the answers you got, but i've had mine for a year i think and have had no problems. i like it because i don't drink a lot of coffee. one cup, maybe 2 / day. it beats having to try to figure out the formula for making a pot equal to 2 cups of coffee that i may or may not drink. i buy my kcups at bed bath and beyond and use the the coupons. the best deal is when you get a $5 off or even $10 coupon to use. i also use it for hot water for oatmeal for my daughter instead of zapping water in the microwave. the water comes out the perfect temp when i use the keurig.
My husband is a huge coffee person. I will drink it every once in a while. We got our Keurig around Christmas time from Costco and absolutely love it. I drink a lot more coffee now, because I don't have to worry about wasting 1/2 a pot. I also love the variety of coffee available.
My SIL both have it. They love it. I have just a regular coffeemaker and I love that also. I cannot see spending all that money on a coffeemaker. I think it s to big and bulky looking. I love my small coffeemaker. Its all the matter of what YOU like. I would never buy it.
I just bought one this last summer. I'm a single parent with a 7 year old daughter so I don't need a whole pot. I love the variety of K-Cups you can get. I got mine on sale, but it was still pricey. I think it was well worth it. The coffee is great and it's quick and easy if you're rushing trying to get out the door in the morning. When I have guests, they like being able to pick their own brew. I'm glad I spent the money. This is a great product.
Wow - lots of people have had problems. I got mine for Mother's day, and no problems, thus far. My sister got her for Christmas, and hasn't had any problems. We absolutly love it! When you get it, and register, at Keurig.com, they give you a coupon code for buy 2 boxes, get 2 free - with free shipping. I got 4 boxes for $25 - about 96 cups. Then Bed, Bath and Beyond carries lots of them, and you can always get a 20% off coupon. To us, it's well worth it. I even gave up my Dunkin Donuts coffee habit - so that saves me $14 a week. So, I think I'm coming out ahead. Yeah, we had a regular coffee maker, and I used it every morning - but then also went to D&D.
Problem, two of my kids have decided they love coffee - so we're going through that stuff like crazy. LOL
