I got engaged last Friday and we are thinking about getting married on a beach in Hawaii. We plan to have just 5 guests, so the wedding will be very small. Have any of you done this? Where did you get married in Hawaii? Do you have any advice for me? I tried googling Hawaiian wedding information and sooo much information popped up, I'm overwhelmed. Please share any advice or experience any of you have with a Hawaiian wedding. I am SOO excited. Thank you.

What can I do next?

I got married on Oahu just last March. We used Sweet Hawaii Wedding and their Barefoot Beach wedding package, here: http://www.sweethawaiiwedding.com/pack-barefoot-oahu-wedd.... We did it very simple; just the minister, a photographer and us. I did pay for their stylist to come to my hotel room and do my hair and makeup before the wedding. She did a great job with both. I was very happy with the service.

We got married on Waimanalo Beach, on the north side of the island. If I had it to do over again, I would have the ceremony either earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon. I think we were married around 1:30, and the sun was just too bright. It was very difficult to not squint in the photos.

Other than that, it was perfect :)

Jennifer Aniston was on Oprah last week, and she said that the island of Kauai in Hawaii is her favorite place on Earth. She said everyone must get there at least once in their lifetime. Since it's good enough for Jennifer Aniston, it is definately good enough for me! So if I was going to Hawaii, I would go there. Have a wonderful Hawaiian beach wedding! If I could do it all over again, I would also get married on a beach!

My stepdaughter did a wedding package in Maui. It was just her and her groom and a huge photo shoot. The pictures were so beautiful. Many of them standing in the water (hope you dont mind getting your dress wet) that were just so awesome.
I dont remember what company she used. I'll find out tho and get back to you.

I was a guest at my BIL's wedding - it was just them and my hubby and me and the officiant. I believe the officiant knew of lovely places - public property with the backdrop of the ocean. We didn't use a hotel or anything. Just parked and walked about 100 feet to a grassy area overlooking the beach. I believe it was Maui, and there were wales breaching in the background. It was great.

I don't know if they still have the info, but if you want, I can check with them. You can e-mail me directly if you want me to follow up for you.

I haven't gotten married in Hawaii, but I have been there on a number of occasions to different islands. My favorite -and my pick if I were getting married there -would be the beach on Hanalei Bay on the island of Kauai. There are actually a number of beautiful wedding locations on Kauai, but Hanalei Bay is really lovely!

**I also like Maui and have attended a hotel wedding in Maui, but I still think Kauai is prettiest for a beach and background setting.

My best friend got engaged and married there on the same day. They found someone to marry them through their hotel and got married right on the beach in Kauai. If you're having a very small wedding, it definitely doesn't have to be complicated.

I think the first thing you need to do is narrow it down. Which island suits you best? Start reading about the different islands because they're all very different from one another. Also investigate air fares to the various islands because that could be a deciding factor, depending on your budget.

Then, start looking at different wedding service providers. Check out reviews on TripAdvisor.com.

Have a great time! (P.S. Count me in with the others on being a fan of Maui!)

The hotels, have wedding packages.
Hotels such as (for In Honolulu):
the Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel
The Sheraton Moana Surfrider Hotel
the Kahala Hotel
the Halekulani Hotel

are the ones that pop up in my mind immediately and are good hotels.

So look on their websites.
You would want, per convenience, lodging at the same Hotel/beach you will be getting married at. All of the hotels I mention, front the beach.

ALSO Google Search specifically: "Getting married on the beach in Honolulu" etc.

BUT, you need to decide WHICH island you want to get married on.

I agree with Maui!! Check out Wailea, it is beautiful. Perhaps you would get better info if you called a few hotels directly. We stayed at the Wailea Marriott and LOVED it!

Congrats, and good luck with your planning.
