What are some of the things you guys are doing with your kids to beat the heat. I've been trying to keep mine in doors at the peak hot times and they're starting to rebel!

I take my kids to the mall to play at the playground there. They also LOVE Clubhouse for Kids in Plano. The Library is always a hit too. And, I read the Dallas Child Magazine religiously and take my kids to any events that look interesting.

Any mall playground area - Willow Bend, Stonebriar, Collin Creek.

Also: Cute As A Button playarea in Frisco (http://www.cuteasabuttonkids.com/index.shtml);

JumpTown in Plano - indoor inflatable bounchouses (http://thejumptown.com/locations/tx-plano/index.php);

Planet Pizza in Plano (http://www.planetpizzaplano.com/);

spray park at Celebration Park in Allen (http://www.cityofallen.org/parks/Celebration_Park.htm) - closed Wed; open rest of days after Noon.

Or sometimes we just go have ice cream at McDonalds (one with an indoor playarea). I also belong to LA Fitness (Coit/Bush in Plano, www.lafitness.com), so I can go workout and he can play in their Kids Club playarea (indoor).

Here's a good resource of ideas (not sure where you live since you didn't say): http://www.aroundtownkids.com/

I know about the boredom of the children being stuck indoors! You should join this mom/childrens group and at least get out of the house once or twice a week for playdates.

We go to places like McD's, the Mall, and today we are going to Chuck E Cheese's. Just alot of different places so the kiddos can play and the mommies can chat. It is a wonderful group.

Hope to see you and your children there! I have a 4yo girl and 14mo boy.

What I normally do with mine is take him to the mall and let him play with the playground in there. I do not know which area you live in, but there is one in lewisville and dallas, At the Valley View Mall, and Vista Ridge Mall. Or what else I do is take him out for some ice cream at Braum and there is a play area there, and of course, McDonalds defintely have a play area. I also, check in my area where the dollar movies are at, because there are normally kiddy movies there, and also, last but not least Chuck E Cheese.

We play outside right after breakfast until about 9 or 9:30am.
We also play at the mall play area and at the library. Bith of your kids might like to click around on the computer at www.starfall.com. My 3 yr old could easily spend a half hour there. We just got an easel so painting and drawing are fun right now.
If we play outside in the afternoons, water is definitely involved. When we can water the yard, I use the sprinkler and put the kids in swimsuits to play in it.
Today or tomorrow I'm taking them to the farmer's market to let them pick out our produce for the week.
Hope these ideas help!

My kids are a 4 yo boy and 2 yo girl also. I have been taking them on alot of playgroups with a moms group I'm on in the Mesquite area. We've been going to McDonalds, mall playarea, CEC, anything we can find indoors, but also out of the house for even just a couple hours. That is helping us alot. If we go outside it is very early morning and late evening. You are welcome to join us on any playdates if you want them to be around other kids there age. We have a few in these ages.

Try early morning trips to the park or in the yard. Also try your local mall most haze a play zone, we go to the Parks Mall. I also enrolled my 3 1/2 yr. old in gymnastics, she gets a good work out and enjoys the other kids. Also try indoor playdates with friends both of their house and yours. We also do alot of indoor crafts and I also remove the coffee table and push the furniture around and we wrestle around and dance and play. Hope this helps and the heat will eventually break. (if wer're lucky).
