Angela,
I was on birth control (the pill) for many years. Then I got married and my husband and I decided to have a baby so I stopped. Nine months later I became pregnant with our first child. As soon as I could I got back on the pill. I changed to the patch as soon as it came out and then I had a small nodule raise up on my leg. The Dr. said it was an inflated vein and I could have it removed if I wanted. I didn't but I did come off the patch. We are back to no birth control but also not planning on having any more children. I like it better this was because it is very natural and no side effects from medication. Good luck in your decision making. I would really prefer my husbancd to get the vasectomy.

I don't take birth control bc it makes me sick too. I guess you have to outweigh the pros and the cons... I'm sure there is something else you could take that is just as effective with less risks.

I love my IUD, but it is usually recommended for people who have already had at least one child.

Hey Angela,

Do you think it's the birth control that makes you feel sick or do you think it is the symptoms that go along with your period that are making you feel bad? I was put on Yaz after I weaned my 2nd. It is a low dose pill that is supposed to minimize the length of your periods, for me, so far so good, my period only lasts 2 days.
Get a hold of your doctor and work close with each other...your doctor will undoubtedly want to know if you are not feeling well and they can, easy enough, pick a pill that will be right for you. Unfortunately, the thing with pills is that you might have to try a couple to find the right one. However, I think it's worth the try. I hope you start feeling better!

PS- thanks for the great cut, I've had many compliments!!!! See you soon :-)

As much as people think B/C pills are a positive thing....there is research that shows they cause a lot of problems in some women. Not to mention they interfere with antibiotics (if you use them) have been linked to blood clots, high bp issues, feelings of sickness and yeast syndrome in a lot of women. I am not a doctor, just someone who had spent many years on bc pills and then found out years later that many of the medical issues I had were related to their useage. Fortunately everything was treatable naturally, but battling chronic fatigue and muscle aches along with other issues was not pleasant. Today - I am in amazing health, bike-ride 15 plus miles w/o a hitch and have lost those last 20 pounds without dieting.

My personal opinion is to talk with your doctor, other doctors, perhaps a np, and of course other women to find out what they have experienced.

Wishing you the best,
C.

MIRENA!!! we just had a baby the end of august and we think he will be our last...i was looking for long term birth control but didnt want to committ to sterilization. my doc recommend an IUD called mirena. its a five year contraceptive thats inserted into your uterus.. during the first few months while your body adusts to the hormone release you can have spotting but after six months or so most women dont have a period at all. here's a link --- you should look into it.
