FYI - having grown up in the hill country, bluebonnets last about 3 weeks from first blooms to seeds. Probably the prettiest in the 2nd week. The hill country in central Texas is probably the best place to see fields and fields of them, but they do bloom up here in the Dallas area - you just have to look a little harder. This year with the cooler weather and late snow we had may mean not as many bluebonnets this year as in other years. Good luck and have fun!

I just checked into this myself. There is a town called Ennis, which is south of Dallas, that has Bluebonnet Trails. As of Friday, their website said it was still a bit early and only a few had started to bloom. Ennis is also hosting their Bluebonnet Festival this coming weekend (although that seems a bit odd since the bluebonnets aren't in full bloom yet!). They regularly update their website, visitennis.org, with the status of the bluebonnets.

They should already be out but the weather has caused them to be hard to find this year. I don't think you will find them in large fields to take pictures if that's what you were looking to do. Maybe next year.

Hi J.,
Yes they bloom in April and are out now. You can see them traveling west on 635 on the sides of the highway and many other places as well since they are not allowed to mow them until the blooms are gone.

There are also some Bluebonnets already in bloom near lake Lavon if you go North on HWY 78 towards Farmersville.

they've been blooming for a week or so already so they've almost come and gone.
the best places to see them are down in the hill country
but you can find extremely nice spots along 635 between central and garland this time of year.
the further south you go the better chance you have of seeing them.

Breckenridge Park in Richardson, I believe it is off of Campbell & Brand Rd has areas of wild flowers but not just the bluebonnets. Also, Spur 408 out by Dallas Baptist University has huge hills filled with the bluebonnets. It was shown on the news tonight, lots of people stopping to take pictures.

J., This last weekend we drove to Austin and they were blooming everywhere and in the park there. I can't think of a local Dallas park that has them but I'm sure that there is one and that they are in bloom right now. Enjoy! A.

I have seen bluebonnets coming up already.
The best place I've ever seen is around the Centerville/Country Club intersection. There is a HUGE hill just covered across from a church. Beautiful and our favorite spot for photo opps!!

Drive to Ennis, TX but go soon! They don't last very long. Once you get to Ennis, there are signs everywhere telling what direction to go. Or just stop at a local store and ask, they will tell you. Don't forget your camara because believe me you are goin to get the surprise of a lifetime. The size of fields that you will see will amaze you.

I'll never forget my visit, I took so many pictures it was amazing.
