I just finished Summer Breeze by Nancy Thayer - it's a great summer read.

I loved This Beautiful Life by Helen Schulman - not a happy book, but fantastic! It's one I kept thinking about for months after I finished reading.

Anything by Ann Patchett (my favorite author); Bel Canto is my favorite of her novels, and her non-fiction is wonderful, too.

Another fun novelist for light summer reading is Elin Hilderbrand. I've read all of her novels, and she has another new one that is out this week.

Right now I'm reading Save Me by Lisa Scottoline. I have mixed feelings about it, and I posted about it here on mamapedia last night. It is very well written, but I hate what the protagonist is going through, so it's frustrating to read. I think I like it, though.

I'm an AP English teacher, and I read a couple of books a week in the summer when I actually have time to read. I love a wide variety of books, and am always looking for something new to read. I'll be watching this thread closely to get new ideas.

Happy reading! :)

I'm a big fan of the Dragon Tattoo series too. I also like the Hunger Games trilogy. I just finished 50 Shades of Grey trilogy too and really enjoyed them. I'm thinking about trying the Laurel K. Hamilton series next - Anita Blake Vampire Detective.

Don't know what kind of books you like but I'll give you some of my favorites.

The Gunslinger/Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Not a horror story...more of an epic adventure mixed with romance, intrigue, very western, etc...7 books with a surprise 8th expected soon and that'll keep you busy for a year or so. The best books I've EVER read and I would recommend them to anyone, honestly. You have to read them in order, though.

The Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella. (Ignore the fact that they made a movie out of the first book, because it was NOT based on the book and was HORRIBLE.) These books are so funny I actually would laugh out loud while reading, which is rare. I have reread them several times because they still make me laugh. I would suggest reading these in order as well.

There's a book called "The Little House" by Philippa Gregory that is a really awesome read, and I like some of her other books as well (although not all of them.) This was a very moving book as a mother.
