Hi all, my DH LOVES the hot wings from Pizza Hut and would eat them every night if he could. But it just cost to much to be buying them all the time. My question is does anybody have a recipe that is just as good as Pizza Hut or maybe even a better recipe? I would love to be able to make Buffalo Wings for him. So he can eat them every night if he wants. lol Wonderful Diet.

What can I do next?

I have never had Pizza Hut's hot wings, but I found this recipe about 2 years ago and we absolutely love it. I have also included a recipe for a salad dressing that makes a heavenly dip for the wings. Happy munching.

Buffalo Wings

2 1/2 to 3 pounds chicken wings
3/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup hot sauce (I use Tapatios)
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
1 to 3 teaspoons ground red pepper
1 (8 ounce) bottle blue cheese dressing
Cut off and discard wing tips; cut wings in half at joint. Place chicken on a lightly greased rack of a broiler pan; set aside.
Melt butter in a small saucepan; add hot sauce, soup mix and red pepper. Brush chicken with butter mixture. Bake at 375 degrees F for 30 minutes. Remove from oven; turn chicken and brush with remaining butter mixture.
Bake 10 to 15 additional minutes or until tender. Serve warm with salad dressing.
Yields about 3 dozen.

Mustard Blue Cheese Salad Dressing

32 Fluid Oz Mayonnaise
4 oz Blue Cheese Crumbles
2 Tbsp Sour Cream
1 2/3 cup Buttermilk
2 tsp Lemon Juice
2 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 Tbsp White Vinegar
1 Tbsp Garlic Powder
¼ cup Yellow Mustard
2 Tbsp Horseradish
½ tsp Black Pepper
½ tsp Salt

Mix all ingredients together thoroughly.

Have I got an answer for you! Be careful though this stuff is addicting:) This is not a recipe, but it is awesome. The best stuff that I have found is called "Frank's RedHot Buffalo Wings sauce. (Frank's being the brand)I found mine at Walmart, but I am sure you can get it at any grocery store. To make wings or any thing taste like wings. Cook your meat the way you like it, then either put some in a bowl and toss it around, or paste it on or just dip it. I often grill chicken, and use it on that, or bake in the oven or use chicken nuggets and dip it with blue cheese. It is also good because you can just keep it in the fridge and he can have that flavor with anything! It is delicious. In fact I think I will make some thing for lunch I can use it with!
Hope you can find it and he loves it.

PS. I think it is better then Pizza Hut's!

My recipe is much simpler but just as tasty. I follow the recipe on the bottle of Frank's Red Hot sauce. Bake wings at 425 for 1 hour. Combine 1/2 c hot sauce and 1/3 c melted butter. Dip wings in sauce to coat.

This is for about 2 1/2 pounds of wings and you can deep fry them at 400 for 12 minutes if you prefer.

I modified this recipe to spray the wings with Pam before baking and only using a couple tablespoons of butter so it's slightly healthier. The wings are nice and crispy too! Enjoy!

I buy the giant bag of wings (I shop at our military commissary but I'm assuming regular grocers have them too. Hubby likes them so hot his bald head sweats so I just throw everything hot I can think of into a pan, heat it up & coat wings. I've not made them in a few years but I used to boil them til cooked & then toss 'em in sauce. I went online & found copycat Hooters recipes (I think my search was just hooters wings recipe) & kept trying til I found one he liked best. I've got a deep fryer now so I think I'd do it that way since the stovetop method takes FOREVER to cook enough for the fam. When Dad was deployed & it was just 2 kids & I, I would do Hawaiian style-like Wing Stop wings. I put Hawaiian marinade in my electric skillet, some extra pineapple, honey, ginger til it tasted right to me & just simmer raw wings in there on low til dinner-or til I started drooling lol
Try looking for copycat recipes online-I've found TONS of great ones & even tweaked theirs to taste better than the "store" recipe.

we make them ourselves... much cheaper! we buy the wings at albertson's by the pound. we marinate them with a little garlic, red wine vinegar & buttermilk.. (for a few hours)... then I cook them in the oven.. I put them on a cookie rack in a deep pan (to catch the dripping)... at 400 degrees, turning every 15 mins or so. heat some frank's hot wing sauce (with a little butter thrown in) in a pan on the stove and then the wings are cooked, toss with sauce.

you can also cook them on the bbq... I dont' know how they are compared to pizza hut, haven't had them... but they are good.

I like the crispy wings and this method is more time consuming but when there is a family function or BBQ, people BEG me to make them.

Buy a large package of whole wings from the deli. It is much cheaper than buying the already trimmed wings, and you get a lot more. You do have to trim them yourself by cutting off the tip, then seperating the two sections. Maranate the wings in franks hot sauce. I use half a large bottle to marinade, and reserve the other half for coating the finished wings. It tastes just like the hot wing sauce from wing stop.

I make a mixture of batter with flour, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and a little chili powder. Put the mixture in a bag and shake it up.

beat 3 eggs and add a little milk and hot sauce to the egg mixture. In the meantime, start to heat a pot of oil. I use a large soup pot, and fill it almost half full. (a lot of oil, I know, but trust me, it's the best way)

I double coat the wings, so start by placing the wings in the flour bag, shake them up well, remove from the bag and set aside. I do 10 wings at a time to make sure they all get coated.

Then dip wings in egg mixture, and coat in flour again.

Fry the wings, stirring occasionally to make sure they don't stick together. Again, I don't fry all at once, usually about two batches. It takes 15 to 20 minutes to fry a batch.

Put the remaining franks hotsauce in a med sized bowl, and when the wings are done, dip them in the sauce, let excess sauce drip off, place on a platter, and they are ready to serve.

I also make BBQ wings for the kids and wimpy adults who can't stand the heat by putting BBQ sauce in a bowl, and adding water until it is as thin as the hot sauce.

Again, I know it is a ton of work, but try it sometime. They are so much better than any restaurant wings!!!!

I have a couple ways of making hot wings you can try. First one, get some regular wings at your grocery store. Deep fry them until they are cooked all the way. While they are cooking pour your hot (texas pete is good)sauce in a container with a lid. When wings are done put in hot sauce, cover with lid shake until all pieces are covered in sauce. Open container and put on plate with side of dressing if wanted.
The other way is to bake the wings. Then continue as above. Or you can cook the hot wings in a crock pot with the sauce until wings are fully cooked. You can also find hot wing sauce which is pretty good too. Hope this helps and good luck.
