I do that when I watch food network or something that looks really good. Like "oh it's 10pm but I'm going to make a dinner for 5 anyways" haha.
Yes ma'am! I had to go out and get a stupid cake mix (strawberry) because after reading the pineapple upside down cake post I had to have cake. So yep at 1030 at night im baking a cake. No good! But I love you grandma t! Have you done that? Read something on here on tv and had to go get it no matter what time it is?

Theresa N.'s hot dog post about ketchup vs. mustard made me want one ... but I was in no place to go get one! thank goodness :)
Funny!!!
I just made a nock of version of a pineapple upside down cake myself after reading her post... Wonder how many others...lol
Oh, yes. I do that all the time. My husband must find it endearing ;)
If I knew how the heck to make an upside down cake, I'd probably be in the kitchen making a huge mess right now!
well, thank goodness I'm not the only one baking!
My niece requested a Mississipi Mudslide Pie for her BD....only the reality of this is that it is a secret recipe served at Gma's best friend's restaurant! Yeah, right.....I can make that for you, my Beloved Niece. I'll just search/google until I find a recipe that sounds close.....
Soooo after many consultations btwn my sis, my mom, & me.....we decided upon a tried & true recipe from my MIL. We figure it has all of the same ingredients....therefore the BD girl can't complain too much. But we all know she will!.....she loves that pie & Gma forgot to order one :(
I think the worst part is that this is a pudding/mousse-based dessert & it has to travel 2 hours in 90+temps 2moro! We'll be packing ice all the way!
This got me really wanting strawberry shortcake. Thanks alot! ;)
LOL yeah I do that all the time. I've been baking forever so the problem is that at this point, I can pretty-much bake whatever I have a hankering for and usually have the ingredients on-hand. Tonight I made a cake for my FIL's birthday. I planned on doctoring a Devil's Food cakemix (my standby for chocolate cake) but needed 3 eggs and only had 1, so I searched around and found another recipe that needed only 2 eggs and then I substituted stuff for the egg I was missing. So even if I don't have the right ingredients (a big fat sign that my hips don't need to wear whatever I'm baking) I make do and plow ahead anyway. So tonight's concoction is a three-layer sour cream chocolate cake from scratch with peanut-butter-cream-cheese frosting and chocolate ganache. Who's hungry now? Can't wait to slice into this this tomorrow!
At least I'm not the only baking so late at night. It's 11:45 here and I've got a cake in the oven. It's a homemade cocoa and vanilla swirl sheet cake. The homemade cocoa icing is cooling on the counter so it's ready to go when the cake is done.
a lot of nights I wish i could go to the store after seeing something - on here, tv, fb...but can't leave the girls sleeping to run the block up. too afraid something would happen! but now that you mention it....I am a little hungry!
.
I have been dreaming of one since I read her post.
I think, while my son is amused with his friends this evening, I may bake.
:)
But we love Grandma T anyway.
i liked it when i was pregnant because everyone understood!
I wish I could eat pineapple. )o:
