Can't Think Straight

So I have a ton of good things going for me and my family finally! :) So excited about this. We have gone through a pretty rough time the last year. We are struggling pretty bad financially and don't qualify for any help. :( Thankfully we have a loving family who is more than happy to help us get back on our feet.

Now my problem is that I just can't think straight. I get lost in my thoughts and keep forgetting things that are important. How do I get my mind back on track and help boost my memory? Are they some exercises that can help me? Vitiamins? I am already taking zoloft for my anxiety and that doesn't seem to help me concentrate any at all. :(

I would appreciate ANY and all suggestions here.

Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

try meditating. You olnly have to do it for 5 minutes. find a quiet place, sit confortable can be in a chair if you want and I like to close my eyes. i have a meditation app on my phone that was free - meditation oasis its a guided meditation for 5 mins i do it everyday and it keeps me calm, but you can just set a timer for 5 mins or find somotherway to time it. keep your eyes closed and concentrate on your breath in and out. your mind will wander just remind your self to come back to the breath without judgement. Your mind will ALways wander just a little less with practice. Just the simple act of sitting quietly will give your mind more clarity and teach it focus! =) smiles

Check out a yoga video from the library and start doing basic yoga poses. The breathing and meditation coupled with the stretching moves can really help to calm you down and focus your thoughts when they are flying everywhere. I also like the suggestion of writing lists, I do that all the time. Good luck!

Routine is the best way to keep things on track. If you keep everything on a routine the extra stuff is easy to remember.

The funny thing is sometimes I still forget stuff if someone changes my day after the day is started. Like I have an appt at 2 and was going to leave at 1:30 but my boss tells me she needs me to run something extra. Just that throwing my schedule off will make me forget that appointment.

I have learned a mess of tricks to coping with ADD without writing everything down.

Oh on the messing up my schedule, since I know it happens I put a sticky note on my computer next to the clock to remind me. Works like a charm. :)

Schedule a physical with the doc. I have been forgetful in the past when low thyroid or anemic.

Hopefully this doesn't apply to you (you know your body best) but I've known ppl who were misdiagnosed as anxious or depressed when all they need was thyroid meds.

i am a list writer. i have a hard time remembering things also, so it goes on a list. my husband laughs at me because i write on for everything. i also play a lot of adventure games on the computer where you have to figure things out and look for clues, etc. also try to get some rest, if you aren't sleeping that well. i know when i'm extra tired, i forget more easily.

if you can afford it, get generic Vitamin B12 complex supplements from Walmart.

Make a to-do list or carry a journal with a calendar. mark important events and to-do's so you dont forget. Keep it with your cell phone so you can grab it at a moment's notice.

Are you getting enough sleep? Sleep deprivation could be the cause.
