A.,
I had it done 2 1/2 years ago and LOVE it. I seriously have not had a period in 2 1/2 years. You have no idea what a relief that is. I would be glad to share more if you need specific details.
I don't want to get in to all the yucky details, but has anyone ever had the cryoablation surgery on the endometrial lining???? I'm considering this but wondered if anyone has gone thought it.

I had it done and still wonder why it took so long for me to do it. It solved my problems completly and is a much better option then a hysterctomy!
Hi A.!
The Fort Worth Star Telegram just had a huge article last
week(or possibly the week before) regarding a new cryoablation procedure now being done
in North Tx on the esophagus. The Health & Science Center in Dallas may have been involved in that, but I don't remember for sure. (I cut out the article & gave it to a friend.) It may help you to get details from the Star Telegram by googling or simply by calling them. (The article started on the front page...big news!)
If you don't mind me asking, does the endometrial cryoablation procedure help to alleviate infertility?
I'm interested because I started a support group for women
experiencing infertility and I'd love to know about ANY
procedure that would help them.
Blessings to you!

I had an ablation in March of 08. Changed my life! Truly. It was really uncomplicated and I had almost no pain (none worse than my normal cramps). I had extremely heavy bleeding - I don't know what your problem is - but I haven't had a period since and I'm so happy.
Want to get specifics. Contact me with specific questions and I'll be happy to answer your questions.
A.,
I had the ablation last July. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Although my doctor is certified to perform this as an in-office visit, my insurance required that I was in a hospital. So I had about a 4 hour hospital visit. Initially, I had about 5 weeks of "spotting", much like after I had my children. Now, I don't have a period. Very rarely, I might have a very slight spotting - nothing that a mini-pad can't stop.
The only thing I've noticed is a slight decrease in sexual activity. I don't know if this is due to the ablation or due to my age (47 - close to moving toward the onset of menopause).
Good luck!
I had the Novasure done last August but unfortunately it did not work on me. I am glad that I tried it because the recovery was a piece of cake. I ended up 2 weeks ago having to get a hysterectomy. Good Luck!
Hi A.,
I had the procedure done 1 year ago. It was truly life changing. I am 43 and had been having irregular bleeding. I have not had any bleeding AT ALL since the procedure. I would do it again and recommend it to anyone. However, not everyone will have the same result. My OB/GYN said that I was an excellent candidate because my lining was "thin". Also, I do still have some slight cramping and pms bloating each month before my non-existent period.
The procedure itself is a piece of cake. Outpatient. They do sedate you and you are given pain meds before you leave the office. I felt a little crampy for 24 hours. After that-great!
Good luck,
A.
I have a friend that had it done. She was bleeding a lot and wished she had it done sooner. It is a out patient procedure and the down time is short. Give it a try.
A. - I had it done almost 3 years ago and I definitely recommend it. My ob-gyn did it as an outpatient surgery in his office on a Friday. I had some minor pain that day, but it was all over and back to work on Monday. You have to have someone drive you home after it and they give you some pain meds. It has been wonderful every since. Go for it! :)
I had the novasure procedure done last May. I had horrible periods that would last literally 16days and I would bleed so much I couldn't leave the house and spent most of my time in the shower and going through 5 sets of clothes a day. I had even passed out due to the blood loss....it was horrible. I had the procedure done it was relatively painless. My bleeding is minimal to almost non existant now but I still feel like I have a 16 day period. I still swell and bloat up for over 2 weeks just like I did when I bled. And it still puts so much pressure on my spine that there are days I can't walk. But as far as the bleeding....it has done wonders.
A friend did about 4 months ago and said it was great... she wishes she'd done it sooner. If you don't get more info here, pm me and I'll ask her for some info.
I personally have not done it, but my mother had it done last summer and says that even though she developed an infection afterwards that was pretty nasty, she would do it again in a heartbeat. It wasn't really painful for her at all. All her life she has had horrendous periods - so bad that she couldn't leave the house on days 2 & 3. She has been anemic nearly all her life because of them. She does still have a slight period after having the surgery, but they are nothing compared to what they were before, and she has freedom she never had before - plus, she's no longer anemic.
Again, not me but a friend did it and she is beyond happy with the results. She recommends it to anyone having the same problem. Good Luck!

I chose the complete hysterectomy route because my Dr. said that the abalation sometimes has to be re-done. I wanted all procedures to be over and final.
For me....the hysterectomy was the best thing I ever did. No regrets, feeling and looking better than I ever did, no worries about getting pregnant..... so sex is even hotter!!
Best wishes with whatever you choose.
I had the Novasure procedure done last October. I am so glad that I did. You do want to be sure that you are finished having children as getting pregnant after having this procedure can be very dangerous. I had some light bleeding after the procedure for a couple of weeks. I also had one more light period the following month. This is normal and can vary from person to person. I would definitely do this again and would recommend it to anyone that is in need of relief from heavy periods. It has been wonderful to be period free! You may still get other pre-menstrual symptoms such as bloating, moodiness, etc., but that is the "fun" of being a woman. At least there is no more (or perhaps light) bleeding. YEA! P.S. My doctor did the procedure right in his office, minimal pain, just rested the rest of the day.
I haven't heard of the cryoablation, but I had a hydro-thermal ablation December 10th. I couldn't be happier! I did have some pain afterwards, more than they told me I would...but not unbearable. I took two days off work (and then had a weekend after that, and was totally fine to return to work on Monday). I really did nothing for two whole days. My gyno told me I shouldn't have periods, but I have. Once my first cycle started, I was so disappointed, but then realized how light it was. I am thrilled with the results! A 9 day super heavy, life-altering period has turned into a regular 5 day, incredibly light period. No big deal.
