Daycare Raising Rates?

Primrose is expensive. On the other hand, I do think you have to expect the prices of things to go up over time. Our daycare raised its rates from $150/wk to $155/wk at the beginning of this school year. Obviously, I'd rather pay less than more, but I think it's a good place, DD is happy there, and I still think the rates are reasonable. Tuition at most private schools and colleges goes up every year--prices just in general life go up over time (e.g., think how much postage, gas, etc cost when you were in HS vs now). I know this can be especially hard right now, since, if you're like me, I haven't gotten a raise, or even a "cost-of-living" increase, in several years, but it is generally the way the world works. However, if you feel the price increase is too large, or you weren't given enough notice, you're certainly welcome to look elsewhere. I know it can be frustrating when you think you have everything figured out (in terms of both budgeting and finding good care for your child), and then something changes! But again, that's life!

A friend just told me that every time she gets excited that her son is going into a lower bracket, the price is raised overall.

It is typical to raise rates every year at most preschools. If your child is happy I would just leave it alone. Primrose is a great school and well worth the money.

Primrose is really good, I would stick with it...other options are Church programs or try Knowledge Beginnings. Everything else I have tried has been a nightmare!

Rising prices are being seen throughout every industry, the price of gas is on the rise again, cost of living for you and child care givers are increasing and prices must as well. My child currently attends a Primrose School as well and there tuition has increased, however the cost is well worth my peace of mind.

Hasnt happened to me, but unless you absolutely love the daycare she is at - i would start a search to possibly switch her, 190 is a at the high range for daycares and it should be going down in cost- did you ask what the raise was for? If you love her daycare i would talk to the director- normally they can lower the rate up/down by 30$ anyways if they put in the request (I used to work a daycare and not everyone payed the premium rate). hope this helps and good luck!
