DD Won't Stop Wetting Her Pants - HELP!

I am at my wits end. My DD gets into these little phases where she pees her pants and it doesn't phase her or bother her at all. These are not accidents. I usually have to discover that her pants are wet and tell her to go change them because she just does not care. She will go all day in a pair of wet pants, or pee through every pair of pants she owns in a day during these times. We started potty training over a year ago and this happens about every two months or so and usually lasts a couple of days to about a week.

I have tried ignoring it, telling her that we can't go anywhere until she stops doing it, taking away her tv and music privilages, everything I can think of and nothing has worked. We even had her checked out medically to see if there was something wrong. (There wasn't) I really need a fresh perspective on this situation.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Over the weekend, we did find out it was definately an issue of "wills." She was supposed to go to Chicago for her birthday and we decided there was no way we would be doing a 4-5 hour drive if she was going to be doing this. We then told her if she kept on peeing her pants we were canceling the trip. We gave her every chance to redeem herself but the night before we were supposed to leave she was still wetting her pants. When we told her we couldn't go, you could tell she wasn't expecting that. We told her we would reschedule in a couple of weeks as long as she kept dry. Since then we haven't had a single problem. I have no idea what to do the next time this comes up.

To answer your questions - My daughter is 4 and has been doing this for over a year now. I have looked for commonalities when this happens and haven't been able to pick out a single thing. I opted to take stuff away when this happens instead of a reward system since she goes dry for 1-2 months and the "wetting" happens for under a week between those periods and we were pretty positive she just wasn't trying.

I don't know how you feel about the rewards system, but maybe you could try that. Its how we stopped my daughter from peeing her pants. It really sounds like she is just stubborn and I don't know a cure for that. Well I wish you luck, I wish I could be more help sorry

STUBBORN!!! is really all i can say.... I have 2 girls and 2 boys girls are 17 and 7 boys are 15 and almost 10... boys were super easy put some fruit loops in the toilet and let aim...they loved it.... My oldest daughter refused to use the potty to go poop...she went and hid....dont know if ur daughter is "camera shy", but if she enjoys pics tell her u will take a pic every time she goes potty.... i also used m&m's on the back of the toilet.. the only time they got any was if they used the potty and not the pants.... other than that i dont know ..... i let my youngest sit in it all day long (bugged me bad, but thats what she wanted).... then i put her in the shower and showed her the "potty candy" and it worked.... hope this helps some..

What happens on the days she does this? She may be trying to get out of an activity or even get some extra attention from you on those days. Are these days you see a particular person? days you go to the grocery store? days she watches a particular TV show?
-Good luck

What worked for me was a Potty Chart.
I used colored construction paper, glitter glue.
Or whatever makes it sparkly and eye catching to a youngster.
I glitter glued enough boxes so that the chart resembled a calender. With each successful trip to the potty, my daughter was rewarded with a sticker to place on the chart. (I also reinforced it with the M&M jar) Good Luck!
