Hey Mom's
I have finally gotten disgusted with my body and have been taking measures to change it. I'm burned out/tired of the gym- mostly because the classes I attend have this one tight-body chick in it, that I'm tired of looking at - call it Jealousy, cause thats likely what it is, but I certainly don't call it Motivation! I've exhausted every neighborhood walking path in my area, detoxed my body with the "cabbage diet", "pink patched" myself, daily 5-minute ab routine, and tried laxitives. I know weight loss takes endurance & patience, but the little 1 and two pounds I lose every other week (maybe) is just too slow.
I need a self-image boost... something that will make me "appear" thinner, and encourage me to continue working out, to actually "be" thinner... so I've been thinking about getting a Detoxifying Body Wrap. I've read, that 10 wrap sessions ($750 pkg) is equivilent to Liposuction. There's plenty of websites out there offering the service, but I don't trust the website testimonials (thoses people are probably paid to market the company, not actual users, with real success) I'd rather trust my Mamasource community.. Hoping for some "real" testimonials- good or bad, worth the money or not?
Moms- You are awesome!! Okay, so toss the "detox body wrap" idea to the wind... The DBW, does state if you expect to keep the inch loss off, that you do have to give up cofee, sugar, excessive carbs and some other stuff. Now that I think of it, eliminating that stuff from my daily/weekly intake will probably aid in weight-loss anyway. Maybe I'll save the wrap til I'm already skinny, and use it to tighten up flab/loose skin- my "mommie pouch" in particular. Y'all have posted some alternate ways to spend my money, much appreciated. And I have to admit, losing 1 or 2 measly pounds here and there, is better than Keeping, or Gaining them. So, what I've gained from your support is the confidence to keep at what I'm doing. Maybe I'll ask that chick to move to the back of the class- so I dont have to look at her. LOL!! love Y'all
T.
I've never heard of it but look forward to reading other responses! You are singing my song!
Good luck!
My hubby and I did this together once several yrs ago. We both lost several inches, and probably would have done it again, but felt it was too expensive. One thing to beware of, though - they will wrap you TIGHTLY! If you normally have ANY back pain, this process will be uncomfortable for you. That was hard for me.
They do work for immediate gratification but don't actually help you lose any weight.....they are more about inches....great if you have a special event to attend etc.....these have been in use for years..literally,my mother (60yrs old) used to offer these in the late 1960's at an upscale salon in Chicago.
Look up Body and Soul Spa in North Scottsdale on Northsight, Sandra Panek is the spa owner and they offer these wraps in a very relaxed setting, in fact that is how she got into the SPA business to start with was through Body wraps!
I'm proud of you for taking care of your body in a healthy way. I recommend trying out this meetup group my friend started because she is tired of the extra baby fat that won't go away. It's called Fitness Fun for Mommy and Me and it might help motivate you. http://playgroup.meetup.com/1101/
It's a great twist on the traditional play groups because it has a focus on fitness and incorporates it into normal activities (like parking a mile away from our desired location and walking there) in addition to hiking, etc. I LOVE that aspect of it and think it's so creative. And it's a twist on fitness groups such as Stroller Strides in that it offers something fun for the kids and caters to them a little more. So it's the best of both worlds (socializing for mom and kids, and exercise) and is a wonderful hybrid of the 2 different types of mother's groups out there.
P.S. Your comment about the "fit chick" made me feel horrible. I consider myself fit and now I feel bad going to the group classes at the gym. Why do we compare ourselves??? I bet you don't have my problem of being too hairy. In order to feel presentable I shave my arms and legs regularly and have to wax eyebrows ALL the time or else they take over my face. I was always made fun of as a kid. Anyways, I'm sure you have some wonderful qualities that people would love to have, either physically or maybe you're generous and kind, or confident and outgoing. You know what makes you awesome!
hi T.
I understand how you feel - I had three boys and gained at least 50 pounds with each pregnancy - getting the weight off was hard until I started doing at least 30-45 minutes of aerobics (non-impact) at least 4-5 times a week - I did it for a few years but then slacked off - but that was over 20 years ago - about three years ago I discovered an awesome, safe and natural cleansing program - as soon as I started it the weight started to melt away - I still choose to exercise some for toning and fun, but the fat and bloat are mostly gone now - I wouldn't recommend the wrap (too expensive, it will feel nice but you won't really see much difference for long) - if you are interested in cleansing, detoxifying and balancing your systems (and really seeing the weight fall off) I would recommend you visit my website for more information on our cleansing products - it's www.shootingstarherbs.amazonherb.net - look for the "cleanse and detox pack" under the wellness packs option - and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
Oh Sweetie: Don't do it. I used to work in one of those places, and yeah it'll rearrange some fat, but that's about all...and it doesn't last.
But, honestly address your need to look like Ms Perky. I bet you think that she has all her "issues" in a sack and has the world by the tail and you think if you look like her maybe you could too??
That's a fairy tale written by the diet people.
We all have problems and a feisty two year old magnifies them. (How: because he's two and doesn't listen to you; you feel powerless to control a little kid and how you gonna control anything else? Believe me nobody controls a two year old well).
If you really want to detox your body...try a colon cleanse. I know of a good 7 day detox that cleans you out...and makes you feel good and purified, you might lose a few pounds and doesn't cost a small used car.
Kevin Trudeax recommends them in his book "Natural Cures they don't want you to know about".
If you'd like to know more about colon cleansing and other natural sources of weight loss you certainly can email me at: ____@____.com put on the subject line "Colon CLEANSE". I'll answer you right away.
Good luck and hugs

I am and have been following the Weight Watchers plan for a year now and have lost 50 lbs. Slowly but surely. I don't agree with rapid weight loss programs but if you truly want something that will help you lose it fast, try this...a friend of mine went to a weight loss doctor and lost 85 lbs. in 9 months. She was a big girl and now she's very skinny. His name is Dr. Hedges - phone number ###-###-#### or ###-###-#### located at 6463 4th St. NW. The initial visit is $140 and each week is $30 but you are monitored by a doctor and given vitamins, etc.
I agree that if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. I was in the same situation after I had two children. After seeing an obese relative drop an amazing amount of weight in a relatively short amount of time I swore she had gastric bypass, but she did not. What she did was the Six Week Body Makeover, for much longer than six weeks though! My husband and I gave it a try and the results were astounding. I am not going to tell you it was a simple quick fix. The eating plan is strict, but worth it. The excersise plan is the easiest part. The BEST part was the results I needed to see to remain motivated. I lost 8 lbs the first week, 7 the second and 5 the third. After that I consisntantly lost 2-3 pounds per week. You are eating whole natural foods in a program tailored to your needs. The online support is great. I have had several other friends and family members find success to lifelong battles with weight loss with this program. If you try it it will be hard to break old habits, but when you get on the scale you will say that was the easiest ? pounds you ever lost! And it is HEALTHY!! I have never felt better in my life than when I am "on plan". My husband has kept his wight off for over 2 1/2 years (over 55 punds) and I had to go off plan b/c I got pregnant when I was 12 pounds from my goal weight. I absolutely cannot wait to go back "on plan" when I wean my daughter from breastfeeding, and stay on it the rest of my life. And BTW it is much cheaper than a body wrap!! Check it out at

Success story "Sheri H."is my husbands cousin.
I am sorry I did not give you advice on body wraps. Good luck!
Hi T.,
I tried and had great results with Lypossage, here in Flagstaff. It is done 2x a week for 6 weeks. I have had great results losing 18 lbs. and am still losing. It is very healthy without any damage to your body. If you want more information re: this method please call (my friend and massage therapist Thersa Janecek at: ###-###-####. If you have questions for me you can call me at: ###-###-####

Okay, yes I know about the detoxifying body wraps because my store does them. However, I will not promote the inch loss that is promised by most facilities, because it just does not work.
What they are doing is measuring every little place they can, then they put a seaweed paste or gel on your body, wrap you very tightly (compressing you), place you in a plastic suit then since you have cooled down they put you under hot blankets for about 1 hr so that your pours will open back up and the seaweed will get in to do the job of detoxing your body. Some places will even have you exercise.
What they are really doing is compressing the body and by having you do a session of 6 to 10 packages yes you will lose inches, but it is not like Liposuction, since it will return and $750 is a lot of money to go through all that mummification (LOL) I personally found it to be very claustrophobic and constraining. They will then remeasure you in every little place they measured you to begin with, then add up all of 1/4, 1/2, 1/3 etc to come up with the guaranteed 6 to ? whatever inches they are guaranteeing you will lose.
When I opened my store I had the opportunity to do these types of wraps I however choice not to do them because I felt they were misleading to say the least. We do offer a unique Steamy Wonder Wrap-Less Seaweed Body Wraps but for detoxing purposes only no measurements. We also offer an Infrared Sauna that burns up to 600 calories in 30 min. That would be much cheaper method and if you really want you can place wraps around the area's that you want, but remember exercise is still going to be the best bet. Nothing is a quick fix.
I will also let you know that we are now the Metro Center location for the original Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet. They come in 1 week packages and you can choose your favorite flavors. It is a low calorie program that should be used under your Dr. guidance. You eat 6 cookies a day for 2 meals and snacks, lots of water and 1 healthy meal. 6 oz of chicken, fish grilled etc and low starch veggies. 800 calories a day that is why you should have a Dr. guidance. Don't be fooled we are not the franchise "Smart for Life" since one's weight should never be treated just by a franchise Dr.
Feel free to call me should you have a questions on anything regardless of whether you use my services or not. We are a wellness studio and my goal is just to assist anyone looking for additional help to be able to find it. But please think long and hard before you spend that kind of money for no true guarantee's. I always joke with my members that there are only 3 ways to lose fat 1) suck it out 2) cut it off 3) naturally eliminate it. Exercise and eating right are not easy I know but they truly are your only real ways to reach your goals. One more thought visit http://www.SparkPeople.com they are free and they help you track what you are eating and your exercise to make sure your doing what you think your doing. Myself and my members love this site and like I said it is free they will help you set up a menu or create your own. Good luck and remember you can call me at ###-###-#### D..
I don't know anything about the de-tox wraps. I thought, though, I'd pass along a little information. You may want to check out this little-known condition that dramatically affects weight: www.wilsonssyndrome.com
I'm seeing Dr. Gladys Ceballos-Logan in Gilbert for it myself. When I get the right balance, my weight comes off and stays off by itself. When I'm out of balance, I literally am unable to lose the weight no matter how much I diet or exercise.
Hi T.,
I think you're doing great! If you're losing 1-2 pounds weekly, you're doing the safe way that is more likely to stay gone when you've reached goal weight.
I haven't tried the body wrap, but I'm really proud of you for wanting to change your life.
E. B
DON'T DO IT!!!!
It is a lie!!!!!
I did it years ago and it totally did nothing but make me feel foolish and broke.
Take up walking. Buy a good stroller, wake up early and walk for a hour or so.
Good luck.
T., while I have not tried the detoxifying body wrap you are referring to, I wanted to let you know that Arbonne International just introduced a whole line of detoxifying spa treatments that you can use in your own home; the line is called Seasource. I am an Indepedent Consultant, and would be happy to give you more information if you are interested. Feel free to contact me at ____@____.com. (We also have a whole line of weight loss products). Best Wishes, G.
I suggest you stay with what you have. Body wraps only make you sweat and you lose water weight. Then go drink 16 oz. of water and you just gained your two lbs. back. You didn't gain a pound a day, so you can't lose a pound a day in a safe way. It's not good for you, it's not good for your skin. Your skin needs time to resize itself to the new you. You may have lost fat, but you didn't lose weight because you gained muscle. Try to focus on eating right and continue to exercise. Do you want to lose it fast, or lose it forever, even if it takes time? I'd take the second one. But I do suggest you go to a nutriologist or doctor, they will guide you on what exercises are better for you. Some are to gain muscle mass, some are to burn fat, some are for cardio training, others are for endurance, others are for strenght. So you may actually be doing the wrong exercise for your particular goals (although it is better than no exercise at all). But if you get with a trainer, I think you'll have better luck. You don't have to have him/her the entire time until you are thin, just a few sessions and then it's all you.
Good luck, and keep your spirits up!
Hi T.,
I haven't tried the Detoxifying Body Wrap, but I do know what helps in removing impurities from the body, gives you energy to take care of your 2 yr. old, and in the process helps you to lose weight/fat and builds lean muscle. Have you ever heard of this new cleansing technology. It is not a colon cleanse but an overall cleanse. I am actually a cleansing coach and I coach people through the program. You can go to this website for additional information: www.gocleanse.com/gsmeter. It has been on several TV networks including "Sonoran Living" as well. I have lost 30 lbs. and have been able to keep it off for over a year. I lost inches in my troubled areas. I went from a a tight size 16 to a 14. I can also get into some 12 sizes as well depending on the clothing. I brought my cholesterol levels down as well. I personally think that the detoxifying body wrap would help but only for awhile. It would be something that you would have to keep doing on a regular basis, because we tend to take in toxins everyday. We take in so many toxins from the air, water, household cleaners and processed foods that we eat. All these toxins slow down our metabolism. Besides the foods we eat, our bodies are meant to produce fat cells to help surround our organs from toxins. Which is the reason that many people have a hard time losing. I was going to the gym and only seeing small results but with this new cleansing technology, I saw results fast and it gave me energy to hit the gym on a regular basis. So, check out the website when you can. And there is a place to leave your email address and phone number if you are interested in the program.
Take Care.

Hi:
I was reading your post, and I think that you might want to consider a personal trainer. One that is certified and has education in a health related field (exercise science, exercise physiology etc). You will spend about the same amount of money as you would on a detox wrap, and the results will be more permanant. Your trainer will educate you, encourage and motivate you to reach your fitness goals, so that YOU will be that tight-body chic that everyone is looking at!
1-2 pounds per week weight loss is actually really good. That is about where you want to be with your weight loss goals. You don't want to lose weight too fast, because you will not be losing just fat, you will be losing lean body mass. Sometimes weight loss is a long process, but so worth the results in the end.
I hope this helps you.
K.
i had one and loved it!!! love the lady that did it and loved the wrap. i lost inches right away and it helped my skin. she said that if i would do them in the sessions like you say that it will make you thinner. She had a women drop a dress size with the 10 sessions i think. I am sure if you call her she would tell you. Let me know!
Or you could try Smart for life. That is what I did and lost 31 pounds in 8 weeks! And only walked 20 mins 3 times a week for 2 weeks. :)
This is some of the information from a common weight loss program - goal of weight loss is .5-2 lbs per week. Sounds like you're right on. Anything more than that and you get this message:
Effects of Rapid Weight Loss
Losing weight too rapidly can have negative effects on your health and well-being. Losing weight at a rate faster than an average of two pounds per week (after the first three weeks) can lead to:
An increased risk for developing gallstones
Dry skin and/or hair loss
Electrolyte (fluid) imbalances
Women who lose weight at a fast rate are also prone to menstrual irregularities.
In addition, many studies have shown that rapid weight loss is almost always followed by weight regain.
What To Do If You're Losing Too Quickly
If you are losing weight at a rate faster than an average of two pounds per week after the first three weeks on the Weight Watchers plan, we strongly advise you to:
Increase your food intake to help slow your rate of weight loss.
Consult with your physician or health practitioner.
Good for you to get other opinions. I don't know of any woman who has used this type of detox. I am also curious about this type of body wrap detox program.
I've tried it, according to the measurements before and after I lost inches, but that is water weight, and by the next day you have it back, you see the gunk that's coming out in water form becuz you see it in the baggies they tie around your hands & feet, but like I said it's water & it comes right back, I havent done it again
FWIW, I think that $750 would go a long way towards equipment, fees and babysitting that you would need for some kind of really fun sport or activity. I don't know what kind of sport or non-sport activity you think is fun, but between city parks n' rec programs and local groups there is a lot to choose from that isn't expensive. Ideas:
* Local hiking groups are either FREE or low-cost
* You could take YEARS of belly-dance, hula dance or salsa dance lesson for $750!
* Tennis, volleyball or martial arts through parks n' rec programs.
* At many barns, $750 would pay for four months of weekly riding lessons. (Warning: you will not stop at weekly lessons and soon you will own five horses and feed your kids Ramen noodles. But you can PRETEND you will only take weekly riding lessons.)
Also, to make you feel better about losing weight slowly, that's how most people who successfully KEEP the weight off lose it. And it's not as slow as you think. At two pounds a week, that's TWENTY POUNDS in ten weeks, the same amount of time those body-wrap sessions take.
Don't waste your money, those wraps just take the water out of you, there are diet pills/drops that you can get at the Red Mountain Day Spa in Scottsdale, Dr. Suzanne Bentz at 85 st and Shea, for $250 you will get a diet and lots of advice, you can lose a pound a day. But you HAVE to follow the diet EXACTLY or don't waste your money, I did it and lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks, you need to have a healthy lifestyle with exercise and diet after that, or you can take that $750 and buy personal training sessions , then continue on your own,. I did it and now i am maintaining.
A.R
T.,
wow!!! $750? that sounds like alot of money!
Ok here is how those wraps work. (I used to do them as part of my massage profession...now I stay home with my kids and have a homebased business) The product that they paint on you and wrap you up in is full of minerals. Minerals promote water loss as they get rid of the toxins. A toxic molicule has fluid around it to protect the body from it.
I know that you have been working hard and would like some instant results, but there are no guarantees! If you want to spend the money make sure that you change your life style, or the water loss will come right back when you eat food and use products that are full of chemicals.
I would love to talk more with you. Have you ever heard of Arbonne? It is a health and wellness company that has amazing products.
We have a Detox Spa line and a weightloss line that is Pure,Safe and Beneficial! They even have a 45 day money back guarantee.
Did you know that most women use up to 12 personal care items a day? and in those 12 items there are 162 different chemicals? Do you know what is in your makeup? I share with others how to make healthier choices for us and our families.
Please contact me if you are at all interested to taking a peek at Arbonne.
Yes, I tried it! Wanted to firm up for a special occasion. It WAS relaxing--but that was it. NO change. Even the person who did it said she thought that "firms up--lose inches" type thing was a hoax. She said "You might lose 1/16 of an inch in your wrists. Well, sufice it to say--I was already wrapped and ready to go at this point. Afterwards she kept asking if I felt different--no. Like I said, it was relaxing--but nothing more than that. Go soak in a warm bubble bath--it's a lot less expensive!
Never heard of it, but anything that sounds too goo to be true usually is. Sad to say, nothing you do from the outside is going to suck out fat the way liposuction does.
If you're losing 2 lb every other week steadily, then you're doing fine. Just stick with it and it'll all come off eventually.
Try not to let the girl at the gym get you down. Odds are, she hasn't had children yet, and once she does, that hard body is going to go the way of every mom's, and she'll be back at the gym with some real work ahead of her trying to get it back.
Sounds like an experience.... as I was reading your message I thought you might be interested in learning more about Juice Plus+.... since you are interested in getting your body healthy. Juice Plus+ is fruits & veggies in a capsule. My sister told me about it about 1 1/2 yrs. ago.... since then I've had more energy & a huge health improvement for me & my whole family. Once you are feeding your body the right foods, it may be easier to loose the weight. Juice Plus+ also has a protien drink that is a meal replacement.... it doesn't have any sugar in it, just protien & veggie & fruit poweders..... if you want more info. check out the following website.... jphealth.net/C.
I also have a CD recorded by a dr. that talks about the benefits for our bodies to add more fruits & veggies into our diets.
Hope you are successful in your quest for a healthier body. :)
