We are bringing our son 5 years old and his cousin 8 years old. We were thinking of Animal Kingdom and Universal Studios.... We can not decide. Is it easy to order tickets online when we are there. Or should we just get them now. We are leaving Friday. Which park would you recommend?
We are going there for a week. We are staying in a vacation house, with a pool. The parks we are thinking 4 or 5 days. He sometimes takes naps, but when these two are together they get a little rough! Lol.
We got a 4 day ticket, with the park hopper. Went to Magic Kingdom the most. We also went to Hollywood Studios. The kids had a blast! Was a little chilly there the last couple days. Being from Michigan thou, it wasn't bad! Thanks everyone!
I would definitely choose The Magic Kingdom over Universal with this age group. Animal Kingdom is nice, but quite frankly, I wouldn't take a 5 year old. It's a LOT of walking and not hand's on stuff like at the Magic Kingdom.
Universal is for older kids.

Hollywood Studios is the Disney park. Hollywood studios has the toy story , star wars and indiana Jones stuff.
Epcot you've got GREAT stuff too, countries, great food, good learning experience.
Magic Kingdom the classic rides, pirates, peter pan, winnie the pooh, buzz lightyear ride, haunted mansion, dumbo , tomorrow land, fantasy land, the characters.
Animal kingdom is kind of a big zoo with rides. The nemo show is great don't recommend the bugs life show.
It all depends on how many days you plan on going. If you are going for more than 2 or 3 days, additional days in the multi day pass aren't that expensive. I would do all the parks if I could (and as mentioned below - a hopper pass allows you to go to more than one park in a day - but at 5 and 8, the kids might tire before that is possible. I don't know how many miserable kids I've seen at disney with parents who don't want to miss a thing! Kids don't know what they are missing. )
Personally, with that age I'd go to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom if you wanted to just do 2.
We took our 6 yo there last August. We spent 3 days for magic kingdom, animal kingdom and the water park. His favorite one was animal kingdom. We didn't try Sea World because we've been in Sea Wold, San antonio. I would try Sea World if you haven't been there. Hope you have a great and safe trip.
Would not bother with Universal. Suited more for older kids. Are you going for one day. If so, then Magic Kingdom would be my choice. If going for longer all four Disney parks. How long are you going for, are you staying on property. With more info from you, we could be of more help.
I'd stick with the Magic Kingdom, and probably would do Sea World instead of any of the other options.
How long are you going to be there? There are hopper passes that will let you get into each of the 4 Disney World parks and you can switch any time during the day. We went when my sister was 9 (I was 18) and she was happier with Disney World. She's not into rides and seeing everything with the Disney characters, parades, and shows was more her style. How are your son and cousin? If they would be more into the experience rather than the rides, I'd recommend Disney.
Definitely go to the Magic Kingdom - there is plenty for boys there. Also Hollywood Studios is great and Animal Kingdom. Don't skip MK.
If you want great advice - buy the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. Worth every penny!!
Definately go to the magic kingdom and Hollywood Studios.
At Hollywood Studios sign the boys up for the Jedi training. Ask where you do this right as you enter the park otherwise the boys won't get to do this. If you are not familiar with this kids get to put on the star wars robes and then have a training session and get to light sabre fight Dart Vador up on stage. This was the highlight of the trip for my 7 year old son. If you don't sign up immediatly when you get to the park - kids won't get to do this though.
Magic Kingdom..MGM has some rides for younger kids, and it's got some great entertainment. Epcot for 1/2 day Animal Kingdom 1/2 day( very tiring) . . Universal is more for older kids.
If your kids are into superheros I'd do universal too. I take my 6 year old all the time. As far as Disney I'd do Hollywood Studios, and spend half a day. Animal Kingdom can easily be a day, and Magic kingdom 2 days.
For a five year old, depending if he still takes naps..
The Magic Kingdom Whole day, Hollywood Disney Whole Day, Animal Kingdom !/2 day.
Epcot maybe for after dinner and then late fireworks.
In this order if you have 3 days or more.
If you have 4 days You could then go back to his favorite park for more time.
To go to Universal, which is not on the Disney property, You will need to catch a shuttle and it is about $20. per person.. (yes this will be a 2 way trip. They drop you off and then pick you up. The Disney Concierge at the hotels can set these up for you.
We just got back from a full week.. It was a blast..
animal kingdom is big in size but we were done at 330 or 400. not too many things to do.. enough to do but not too much
magic kingdom is great.. we spent 3 days there.. that is real disney.
epcot is Ok.. we spent 1 day there..
I would not go to magic kingdom 2 days in a row. so go to magic, then animal kingdom.. then magic.. then take a day off and stay byt he pool.. then go to universal and then back to magic..
it is fun but tiring.
