I was wondering if anyone has bought a portion of a park hopper from someone online or otherwise. i know tons of people do it but I am super nervous. Don't you have to sign the back of the park hopper or something??

I bought one off my friend once and it worked perfectly (no one signs them), however I would NEVER buy them online since I would assume they were scamming me.

It's doable, but I'd be worried about a scam as well. The website get away today is the best place I can find for discounted Disney tickets that are legit:

I don't know about Disneyland, but at DisneyWorld they scan your ticket and your fingerprint, which are linked together upon first use. The exception is they don't scan fingerprints for children (9 and under). I have seen them forgo the fingerprint scan process during really busy times, but I wouldn't risk trying to go around the rules.

Though I have never bought any from anyone online I can see how it would easily work.
When we lived 2 hours a way from Disneyland, we were there several times a year, as were many of our friends. There would be times when we would get a better deal on a three day ticket (even won 3 day tickets before) but couldn't use all three. There have been many occasions when I have given or used tickets with a remaining day on it.
You are supposed to sign them, but most people do not. They do not insist on it at the gate, they do not fingerprint you. They just scan the ticket and let you in.
It will work.
The only concern I would have is buying one online I have no idea how you would know if it was a good ticket. The ticket visually has no way of indicating how many times it has been used, it gets scanned. Also, tickets usually have regulations like "all days must be used within 30 days of first use" and it would be hard to know it if had not expired.
If a friend was selling them to you; go for it. It will work. If it is a stranger, beware!
