Whenever you buy certain baby/child items, some come with the product recall card. This includes high chairs, car seats, baby gates, etc... you mom's know what I'm talking about ;) With my first 2 kids, I think I only filled out the cards for the car seats. With my son, and I don't know why, I think I filled out every card that came with something. Never had a problem, until recently I was contacted by the manufacturer of his high chair. His was NOT on the recall list, but they called to check and be sure. I felt really good about that phone call! The company taking responsibility... I don't know, it just sat perfectly right with me.
So, do YOU fill out product recall cards?
They started asking for your phone number on the cards, that's why they called :)
Yes. I'm often too busy to pay attention to product recalls. I fill them out so they can get in touch with me. I'm sure I started getting a bunch of mommy mail as a result, but taking myself off of the lists is quick and painless. I'd rather have the good feeling of knowing that a company cared about its consumers!
Yes I do fill them out on the "big" items, not every toy but anything I spent over $10 for that comes with a card.
I did get a call for the crib, of course my daughter had out grown it, we put it together correctly, but we gave it to my brother and sister-in-law so I contacted them to get them the replacement items need to make the crib "safe." It is a nice when a company does follow through and uses the info given to them in a responsible manner.
I did for awhile, but then I noticed a dramatic upswing of junk mail in my mail box like my address was being sold to mass mailer lists.
When I stopped filling out the cards, the junk mail dropped.
There are sites (like Consumer Reports) to check for product recalls and I like using them better than filling out the cards. I NEVER disclose my phone number if I can possible help it. I'm on the Do Not Call list for a reason and I do not want to invite junk calls.
YES! I do, because that is the only way other then putting it out on mass media to find out about recalls. I dont watch the news unless it is on one of the more political circuits. they dont tend to announce product recall unless it is in the greater numbers like the Toyota recall.
I am shocked they called without being on the list. you must have been on the list for something else is my thought and they called just in case. I dont know how all that really works.
I know I had purchased and Amby baby hammock swing for my youngest. We bought it on the hopes of making some of it back on resale. I went to go sell it and it had been recalled. I had no idea! they never bothered to contact me. I purchased it from the company so they had all my info!
So, i guess if it means I will get informed with the recalls it is worth my time to fill out the cards!!
We do them on "big ticket" and "safety" items!
