Wow, first I'm hearing of that. Thanks for posting!
I just read these articles about it:

Don't know if y'all know about that?
Good to know!
Basically per the woman in the article, Pinterest says:
“YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE ENTIRE RISK ARISING OUT OF YOUR ACCESS TO AND USE OF THE SITE, APPLICATION, SERVICES AND SITE CONTENT REMAINS WITH YOU.”
What's more, Pinterest places all blame and potential legal fees on its users...."
Wow, first I'm hearing of that. Thanks for posting!
CAn you sum up for us non legaly minded?? does it come down to copy right infrindgement???
Yet another reason to not bother with social media accounts.
A couple of weeks after i signed up for an account i used it to "pin" some Valentine's Day goodies. A week or so later I went back, as I typically read EVERYTHING (I hadn't previously because I was doing hospice care for my Dad at the time I created an account) and I read Pinterest's policies, etc. I scared me enough to where I haven't used it again, really not worth it and I still don't get all the excitement over Pinterest anyway, I prefer to blog.
Pinterest answered this recently in an article

It's funny, because it's so easy to break copy-write. You did it here even in your 'so what happened' when you quoted her, because in the articles she basically says you don't have the right to repost any portion of her article, but you can share a link.
Really, I'm a blogger. I had a person get p'oed at me for using one her her images. HOWEVER< I had asked her permission, and she GAVE it. I linked to her, credited her and even put her coupon on my blog that she requested me to do. She simply forgot she gave me her permission. I deleted her promotion and everything after that, much too dodgy of a character to mess with.
The Pinterest tou is FULL of contradictions by the way.

The founder is aware of the issues and is apparently looking into ways to fix them to be less scary:

And copy write issues are rampant all over the internet, facebook, blogs, websites... basically, if you have an image out there, it can be used anywhere. I have even found my own images on blogs that were uncredited to me. Of course, one can fight it, but the reality is that it is very difficult to even find them, especially if the image goes viral.
