Here are my thoughts:
•Left to "whim" we are barraged with "news" 24/7. Media is everywhere...scrolling screens at the bank, billboards, TV, radio, internet, magazines, newspapers, etc....
•To keep sanity (and perspective) I "check" news when I want news.
•I never leave the news "on" at our house--too violent, repetitive, depressing etc. for me AND for my 8.5 year old!
•We DO have power over what we are exposed to--but it takes effort.
•I do NOT mean I believe in living in a bubble
•I DO believe that the media will "make" news when there is none, by hyper-focusing, repeating, detailing minutia, etc.
•I do NOT believe this world is a "more evil" place than it was years ago--I DO believe that every person now hears ANY sensational news within about 10 minutes of occurrence due to the total saturation of numerous sources of media.
•I feel that the media is to blame for a lot of unwarranted fear and paranoia in the world today.
