Kids change all the time! Sometimes I think my son looks like dad, other times I think he's a mini-me.
Does all you kids have to all look alike? My 8 month old baby doesn't have any resemblance of me and my husband. Is this normal?

Nope. Not at all. My sister takes after one branch of the family (blond) and I look like another (brunette).
My husband doesn't look anything like his father at all. Both his grandfathers (and father) were bald by 23 and my husband has a full head of hair. It's not even thinning in his mid 40's. None of his male cousins have any hair. We kind of think his Mom had a bit of a fling on a Mexican cruise she took with some girlfriends roughly 9 months before he was born. His Dad thought about getting a blood test a few times, but then my Hubby was such a great kid it really didn't matter in the end.
My first daughter came out with red hair. My husband and I are brown headed but my mom is the red head. It skips generations in my family but it wasn't something we ever expected. Because of her hair color, I've never thought she looked like me or my husband. She's 9 now and we've had 3 more kids, all of them came out with the dark brown hair. We joke with her and tell her we're gonna keep trying for another red head so she'll have a look a like sibling but after 4 I'm certain we're done. I hope it doesn't bother her too much, and she hates when people talk about how pretty her hair is, it makes her embarrassed and shes even tried to get me to dye my hair red so I can look like her. LOL So no you definitely don't have to look just like your children. My mom used to often joke that she doesn't know how herself and my father with the way they look could have had such beautiful daughters. : )
Take care
he's only 8 months old , a lot can change in a few months to a yrs time.
sometimes small babies look nothing like their parents , but as they grow they look more like them.
ex when my son was born everyone said he looked like me, now he is the spitting image of my husband. They can change very quickly.
My brother and I are a year apart in age. He has very dark wavy hair, dark tan skin and almost black brown eyes. He was always a little chunky when we were kids (still is). I am very fair, have light hazel green eyes, light brown pin-straight hair and was scrawny skinny growing up. No one ever believed that we were siblings - until we sat next to each other and you could see the same shape in the cheekbones, and jawline, mouth.
My other brother looks very much like me, similar coloring but with blue eyes. His wife is half greek, half irish but she looks all greek - dark complexion, dark thick wavy hair, deep brown eyes, etc. Their kids look like my brother - my SIL says she feels like the nanny when she's out with the kids becuase they bear NO resemblence to her. ;o)
Your child will begin to look like you as he/she grows up. You'll see it in subtle ways, how his eyebrows go up when he's surprised, how he smiles, the shape of his face, etc. Until they lose their baby fat and really gorw hair and teeth it's hard to see what they really look like! If you go through photos of yours and your husbands family I bet you'll see a baby pictures of some relative, your or your spouse, your parents, a sibling or cousin, uncle and you'll be amazed at how that particular baby looks just like your baby.
When we went through old photos for my FIL's funeral service we found baby and childhood pictures of my FIL and his brother that were STARTLING resemblences to my son who looks much more like my side of the family than my husband's. Genes are funny - they jump all around!
my ex sil has 3, two look almost like twins, but the oldest does not, the oldest has almost black hair and does not resemble dad (i honestly think she has a hidden seceret) the other's look just like her AND dad with light brown hair
nope, not at all, I am dark hair, dark eyes - my girls are blondes with blue eyes and look more like my sister than me, in fact people often think they are not mine!!
My oldest and youngest look alike my middle son looks nothing like anyone on my side of the family. He looks just like his father. The only problem with that is his father lives in Virginia so no one where we live ever see them together. If we weren't the only family at the hospital when I had him and if I didn't get to hold him the second he came out I wouldn't think he was mine. No one ever thinks he is my son, most think he is a friend of my oldest boy.
Just wanted to let Bobbi know that Fraternal twins do not necessarily look alike. Fraternal twins are when two seperate eggs are fertilized. Identical is when one egg is fertilized and the egg splits at some point to make Identical twins-however having "fraternal" twins myself. I get told all the time "Are you sure they aren't identical"? However to me of course I am their mother they look totally different-do they even look like sisters Oh yes very close but there are differences and even in their voices. When I talk to them on the phone I can tell by the voice who is who. I had another church member's daughter give birth to twin fraternal daughters and you could surely tell them apart because one had blonde hair the other one had dark brown hair. MY neighbor across the street has twin granddaughters and they are fraternal as well and one is shorter than the other but they look an awful alike. I have heard of some identical twins not looking anything alike however fraternal twins looking more alike than identical???? Who knows its all in the genes. How did my husband's brother end up with a big honker nose-no one else had it except for a great Uncle from Pictures we saw....somewhere down the line he picked up the gene. You just never know. My great great grandmother had three sets of twins.....out of 8 grandchildren I was the only one that picked up the gene thus far and even had a cousin that had to have clomid in order to get pregnant so go figure?????
My kids are mixed and all have different skin tones. All my husband's kids also. My oldest is a very light tan, my second looks mostly white, and my baby is the darkest, but he still looks white next to my husband who is not overly dark. Our daughter has gone back and forth between looking more like him and more like me her entire 7 years. The second is the spitting image of the men in my family (and me - just in feminine form) and the youngest is the same as my husband, twins! The boys both got my husband's body type as well, too funny! While they all look similar, not like me and my siblings. There are 5 of us and the oldest looks like my dad, the other 4 all look like my mom. So to answer your question, nope!
My kids look nothing like me...at all...I have been asked if I am their nanny. But they do look just like my husband's side of the family. Not like him so much as his coloring. They totally look like brother and sister, so at least they look like each other.
My husband and I apparently have very inconsistent genes! I have three kids, now 18, 16, and 13. None of them even remotely resemble each other physically.
My oldest son is completely his father's genes. My middle son is completely my father's genes. My daughter the youngest looks more like my sister's child than mine.
When they were babies like yours, I didn't really see ANY resemblance to either one of us either. Even while family members are exclaiming, Oh, he looks just like Uncle So and So, JUST like your Grandmother's Sister, blah blah blah.
You get what you get!
My two kids do not look like me and I am positive I am the mother, lol. My last has no resemblance of either of us...more looks like grandmother. It is possible the genes got "watered" down a bit :-))
What? I have 3 kids and they are a combination of myself and hubby. Chances are your baby looks like both of you too.
Totally normal! My two sisters look so much alike, almost like twins (blonde hair, green eyes, short). I on the other hand have dark brown hair and blue eyes. The only blue eyes on either side of the family for 5 generations! I am also 7 inches taller than both of them. Now my two sons both have blue eyes! My oldest looks like my husband and my youngest looks like my father (nothing like me). Oh well...maybe our next one will favor me. ;)
My ex and I are both dark, curly hair. Our son is the same and our daughter is blond with striaght hair...huh??? But my dads side is all blond. So it doesn't matter, the kids don't necessarily look like either parent.
I'm a spitting image of my MOTHER in all way's possible..Yes it's not all that bad she is a wonderful loving devoted lady but if only I had received a few of my dads like my sis & bro have I would be a super model LOL
All 3 of my kids were born they all looked alike till this day people would say they should of been born all together they are looking some what like me but the attitude is for sure there other wise they take after their dad & inlaws
We have some friends that have two girls - neither one looks like them...at all!!! The dad has kids from a previous marriage and they all look just like him. SO weird. If I didn't know any better, I would have been positive those girls were adopted! LOL!!
Also, what the baby looks like at 8 months can change dramatically. Even though my kids look similar to their baby photos, their faces have definitely changed over the years. It will be fun to watch and see how your baby changes and maybe starts to take on characteristics of you and your hubby. Or not. Maybe it will be more subtle. Watch....your grandkids will be the spitting image of you and your husband!!! LOL!!
