My 2 year old daughter is the spitting image of my husband. She looks so much like him that you could mix up their baby pictures and think it's one kid. Strangers would even comment on how she looks just like her daddy when it's just the two of us shopping and they've never seen my husband. This lady cracked me up one day saying, "oh what a gorgeous little girl" then followed it after looking me up and down with, "you must look just like your daddy". So she complements her on her beauty and says to my face she didn't get it from me, lol I have to admit it gave me a litte bit of a complex. Now I have a 3 month old daughter that is my mini me, so yeah one for my team! I love both my girls so much no matter what or who they look like. They are equally the most beautiful blessings in my world. So I was wondering, does your child look just like you or your SO? Do you have one that is the spitting image of one of you and another that is a mix of you both? Do you have any funny stories like mine of people putting they're foot in they're mouths?
Thank you so much for all your replies. It's so awesome to see how genetics works. I found if so interesting how many if you have children that look like other family members. I never thought about it but I look nothing like my mom's family. Sorry mom, now I know how you feel lol! My oldest does have my eyes and pale skin tone but the resemblance to my husband over rides it. My little one is looking more like me everyday but she looks like my grandfather when she smiles. Both my girls look like eachother but I love that each have they're own uniqueness.

Greg looked like his cousin's brother until a year or two ago. Now? He's taking on his own look.
Nicky? A mix of Bob and I both.
My daughter? Mix of us both.
When Greg was born, he was (still is) a pasty-faced white boy!! LOL!! He was a pale face with these bright blue eyes - tow head hair so fine that it was hard to see!!! Bob is Russian-descent so he has the Mongolian olive skin, dark eyes and dark hair...I have brown eyes and brown hair..when we would take Greg out - people would ask if we adopted him or who is father was...Bob would tell them -"he's the post man's baby - I'm okay with that - he gets to see him every day." People didn't know to laugh or walk away...we thought it was hilarious.

I love this question! People say the strangest things that I would never even dream of saying. My two sons look EXACTLY like me and my husband is always irritated when people say to him in a joking tone, "who is the father?" I have started to get irritated too! Enough is enough already... :) This probably happens 2-3 times a week.

My oldest is my mini me and looks just like I did as kid. My middle girl is my husband made over in a girls body! She looks like him, runs like him, talks like him, and is laid back like him. Our youngest is a good mixture of all of us! She is laid back like dad but is stubborn like me and my oldest. When she was a baby she looked a lot like our oldest, but now she looks more like our middle child.

My oldest doesn't really look like me or her Dad. She took on the genes of my Dad's side of the family. When my Dad passed away, we were putting together some pictures and we ran across a picture of him in high school and it looked almost identical to her school picture. I think my son looks like me but we were watching some old films of my SO when he was about my son's age and they have a lot of the same facial expressions / mannuerisms (sp?). I think my youngest daughter is starting to look more like me but when she was a baby, she was the spitting image of my SO's Mom.

If you take my son anywhere near my MIL's family they will say: "He looks just like David's son!".
IDK who the heck David is (or his son), but I'm pretty sure that my son who looks a lot like me as a child-doesn't look JUST like him. ;)
Grrr.
DS is a blend or maybe just a extra cute mini-daddy. He certainly has his daddy's eyes.
DD is even more of a blend. She does not resemble either of us as kids-or adults. My friends say she looks like me-I don't see it.
I was a very average looking kid. Cute-but not exceptional. DD has striking eyes. There is nothing striking about me. Lol.
She did come out of the womb bearing my adult colored hair (blonde as a child). I find that a little odd. It inspired me to stop coloring my hair. :)

My 7 y/o is a clone of his father.
When he was 4 we were playing at a beach. We met a Gma and her grandson and they played together. A boat pulled up to the dock and the little boy asks his Gma if they can go see if they caught any fish. She takes him. The boat happened to be my husband and his buddies. The Gma didn't know this. She gets to the boat and her grandson is looking at the fish and she looks at my husband and says "oh, wow! You must to be Ty's dad" :)
My youngest looks very similar, but has finer features and my eyes.

I have four and I am not sure anyone would even connect them as siblings because they all look so different from one another (same two parents for all four). Ultimately here is the breakdown:
My first born looks exactly like my husband as a baby through his age now (he is 11). However, he does not look like my husband now and everyone says he looks like me. I think it is because my husband has black hair and I have blond and my son's hair is on the lighter side. He also got massively curly hair - I am so jealous. I personally do not see any of myself in him, only personality traits.
My second son looks EXACTLY like my mom, and I mean EXACTLY. Her mannerisms, her looks, her hair (stick straight), everything. I look a bit like my mom so I can see the trait she has that look like me.
My 3 child is my Mini-Me. I saw a pic of me at her age and truly thought we were the same kid. She has the fair skin, white hair, blue eyes and she even has the attitude, princess, diva, my-way-or-the-highway thing going on.
Then we come to baby #4. She came out and is a spitting image of my husband. Same skin tone, black hair, heavy eyebrows, rosy cheeks, lips, everything. The only difference is her eyes are bright blue and my husband has green/hazel eyes.
So fun! I just love the differences.

My funny story is that I have red hair and hated it as a child. I did not want my children to have it. My husband is Persian, so dark complection and really dark hair. My daughter comes out looking just like me. Everyone says that. Her haif is auburn, although she can tan. Her facial features are just like me. Then my son comes out. He has brown hair. I think his face is a mix, because he is not strongly my husband. But, because of the hair colors, they tend to look like one of each of us. My little boy is really adorable. When people would see us they would say "He is so georgious. She looks just like you." I got that so much that I started to take offence (inside) to it. But in the end they are both really cute.

My third has blonde hair like his daddy, but looks just like my great great grandfather (the resemblence in pictures is uncanny!). My stepson has blonde hair like his dad, but is the spitting image of his mom in all other aspects. I guess my husband just has very recessive genes! None of my kids look anything like each other- no one would ever guess they're related just by looking at them. My son is my husbands mini me. The only thing of me that I see on him is his nose. I also see my brother in my son. If I shave his head or its cut short like my brothers. He also will sometimes do things that remind me of my brother when he was younger. My husband has long hair and when I do happen to let me sons grow longer than normal I have my husbands family tell me over and over at how much he looks like his dad.
My daughter on the other hand is my mini me. When you take my baby pictures and look at my daughters other than the fact she wasnt bald when she was born she is me. Although she has bright blue eyes, the rest of us have brown eyes with mine being more like a honey brown. She also has blonde hair that is slowly starting to get darker. Mine was blonde also as a baby once my hair grew in but by the time I hit kindergarten it was dark brown.

My older son resembles a cousin of mine, a little in appearance but mostly in the way he acts, lol. (Other members of my family agree.) Both of our kids are a beautiful blend of our colorings & surprisingly almost the exact same shade as each other (which is not terribly common with mixed-race siblings). That's the only thing about the 2 of them that looks alike, though. Mike looks exactly like my husband only lighter & Hailey looks exactly like me only darker.
When Mike was first born I definitely had a bit of a complex because I had gone through so much work carrying & delivering him & it looked as though I had absolutely nothing to do with it so I get what you're saying for sure!

I have two little girls and they both look exactly like daddy. My oldest is like yours, baby pictures could easily be mixed up. :) I have had the exact same conversations (and complex!) "She is so beautiful, does she look like daddy?" ummm thanks.
I have dark hair and eyes, both of my girls are blonde with huge blue eyes. The oldest has my personality though, the youngest may look a little more like me. She's only 7 months so we still have time to see.
Another funny story. My girls are 2 1/2 and 7 months and I babysit a 16 mont old little girl. We are white and the girl I babysit is black/asian. She is beautiful, but obviously does not look like me at all. People always get confused (and kind of rude) asking about our situation. I think it's pretty obvious I either am babysitting or adopted her, but the things people say are strange. Like "so different fathers?" umm first of all do the math, it's almost impossible. Also how rude and none of your business. But it does always make me (and lo's mommy) laugh at how brazen people can be.

I love your question. :) Everybody says that my kids are the spitting image of my husband. I don't really see it. I think they look more like me because they have my eye and hair color. But every single person I've ever spoken to about it says that they look like their dad. Perfect strangers have told me that they look exactly like their dad. One time a lady walked up to me and said, "This must be ***my husband's name***'s daughter"...I didn't know this person and I said, "how did you know?" and she said, "She looks just like him!" (What!?) Another time, a perfect stranger came up to me at a softball tournament and said, "Excuse me, is your daughter the granddaughter of ***my mother-in-law's name***? She looks EXACTLY like she (my mother-in-law) used to look in grade-school!" How strange! I never thought my daughter and my mother-in-law looked anything alike! I'm sort of sad not to have a mini-me, but actually, I guess it's a blessing because I was never really satisfied with my looks anyway. :)

My son's newborn picture looked just like both me and his father (yes, our baby pics looked alike). As he grew, he looked more like me at that same age...blonde hair, chubby cheeks, and blue eyes (but his dad and I have the same eyes so much so that people have mistaken us for siblings). Pictures of me (without girlie clothes) were confused for my son. All this and yet his dad still swore he looked just like him (he didn't). As he grew, he did become a good mix of both of us but due to his coloring (hair, fair skin) he looks a bit more like me even to this day (he's 20 now). He does have his father's jawline and voice though.
My daughter looked mostly like my husband, especially since she had a slightly darker complexion when she was born. She is a bit of mix but much more towards her daddy. She's almost 5 now and more like me now than before but definately a mix. Her eyes are a darker blue like her daddy's and her hair is the same color as mine is now but much darker than when I was her age. It's the eyes and hair that really point towards her dad. Her coloring has become more fair now too.
The one funny story I have is when I had my son (he was a few months old), dressed all in blue. This older couple came up and said "What a beautiful baby. What's her name?" I said "Thank you. His name is Michael". Their reply "Michael huh? That's a strange name for a little girl". Ran into them a few aisle later and we had the exact same conversation. My co-worker who was at the store with me almost screamed "He's a boy!" but didn't.
My other story is that when I was dating my husband and he had my son with him at his mothers work one day, a guy came up and said "Wow, he looks just like his dad". My now husband said "Does he?" because he had not yet met my ex. His mom's co-worker thought my son was my now BIL so he said "Yeah, he's your nephew right?". Now this BIL still doesn't have any kids so apparently he truly thought he looked like my BIL.

Love the "beautiful girl...must look like daddy" comment you mentioned, that's hilariously stupid. I bet she was kicking herself in the car.
My older son looked just like my brother from 1 to 3, but he suddenly MORPHED and now is the spitting image of my husband. Long legs, short torso, his fly away baby-blond hair turned into very thick brown hair, similar facial expressions and look in his eye, all that. All he's got from me is the blue eyes. My younger son: he's the spitting image of my biological dad. Freakishly so. My eyes. But then, I look very much like my dad too, but a girl version. Short legs, long torso, a thick head of fine, very light blond hair, big lips, different shaped head, different skin color, etc. But one of my good friends has it MUCH more dramatic: she has really light blond curly hair and green eyes, and her husband is a little darker with black hair and dark brown eyes. Her oldest looks just like her, and her youngest looks just like him---they totally don't look related AT ALL unless all 4 of them are together.

I am Norwegian pale with naturally platinum blonde hair and blue eyes.
My husband is olive skinned, jet black hair and green eyes.
Our first is olive skinned and dark hair like my husband. He has dark brown eyes which are traits that come from my husbands grandmother on his mom's side and my grandfather on my mom's side. Everyone else in our immediate families have light eyes. But his bone structures is from my family. Tall, skinny narrow hips, and he has my facial features - just not my coloring.
When our second was born, the nurse actually looked at my husband and said, "Are you sure this one is yours?" If I wasn't drugged.... He was pasty, pale, light eyes, and with a red mullet. He has grown into a beautiful toe-head with thick blonde hair, the most beautiful blue eyes you've ever gazed into, and quite fair skin, though he does tan a little. He has large hands and feet and is more stocky like my husband - very strong, wider hips. So at first glance he is obviously mine in coloring, but he has his dad's facial features, teeth, ears, and stick straight hair.
They are COMPLETE OPPOSITES. If my husband is at the store with just our second, he is often asked if he is babysitting.

My oldest as a baby looked exactly like my hubby--but as he's gotten older I'd say his complexion is so much darker. I actually think he's a splitting image of my MIL, dark brown hair, nice tan looking skin, and dark brown hair. Everyone always tells me that he looks so much like his daddy--I always come back with you should see how much he looks like grandma too :)
My 2nd is my "white" baby blonde hair (bleach white) blue eyes up until just recently, they'll probably change to the same hazel mine are. I wouldn't say he looks like me, but people always generalize it that way since he doesn't look like my hubby at all. He does have the 'smith' family head tho---you couldn't miss my dad's side of the family's head---its very big. When we took out my dad's baby pictures (he's 1 of 6) I actually thought my son looked exactly like my youngest uncle. You couldn't even tell the difference. I find family resemblances so interesting and unique. Can't wait to see what they look like when they're older :)

My daughter is adopted and people will find things on her that looks like me. They will say she has your eyes and she doesn't because she has big pretty eyes with curly eyelashes and I don't. They will say her smile is like mine and it isn't but I thank them anyway. Most people think she looks like my mother. When she was born she was in the NICU because thats where they keep babies that are being adopted, and a lady came in whose grandson was in there. She looked at my daughter and then my mother and said you can tell thats your grandbaby because she looks just like you. My mother's face beamed like headlights on bright.

Hi michelle-
My kiddos MAY look like him...but thank goodness they got MY smarts/common sense! lol
Seriously, all the boys look much like my ex...the girls look exactly like me at 'their' respective ages. In fact, a few years ago we came across a picture of 'me' at 15/16 when eldest daughter was that age...we both at first thought it was her (same LONG straight hair...similar clothes) and then realized it was me! We laughed...and then she paused to look at me. I think there was FEAR in her eyes as she realized what she *might* look like in the future! lol
Best Luck!

My daughter is a little mini-me...if you look at pics of me at the same age, she's like a little clone. The only difference is I was much thinner and had a very wiry build and she's more muscular and got a little more meat on her bones. She seems to have a longer torso which would come from her dad, so we'll see what happens as she gets older and loses that baby/toddler build more and more as she grows into being a "big kid". Her hair also parts from the back of her head on the side the same way as Dad's.
Stepson #1 took after his mom. Stepson #2 is a clone of his dad. Their mom used to say that if it wasn't for the pain (of giving birth) you wouldn't know he was hers!
