Ebay Transaction Question

H, Mamas! I am relatively new to Ebay, and have never had a problem before, so please bear with me, if my question seems 'elementary'.

I purchased an item using the "Buy It Now' option on July 7th, and promptly paid using Paypal. The estimated arrival date was June 13th. Well, the date came and went, and when I look on 'My Ebay', it does not appear that the item has been shipped.

I emailed the seller on the 14th, asking when the item will ship, and have not gotten a response. I emailed the seller again over the weekend, and again, no response.

This appears to be a reputable seller who has had many successful transactions, so I am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt...but how long would you give them to either ship, or respond before reporting it?

Thanks in advance for any advice you have!

So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone for the advice!

I sent the seller another message and told them if I did not receive a response, I would be forced to report them, and provide negative feedback. To that, they responded right away and said they were waiting on the manufacturer to send them the item, and would refund me, if I wanted. I asked why they did not just respond and tell me that...we will see what (if anything) they respond with...I think I will provide negative feedback anyway for poor communication, as I should not have had to threaten them to get a response.

Thanks again for the advice!

I would politely email the seller one more time and mention the previous email. Ask for a response or item shipped with tracking number within the next 5 business days. Tell them that if you don't receive a response or the item by then you will have no other options but to take action...that could be with Pay Pal, Ebay, Credit Card company (all of the above). You can and should leave negative feedback at the end of that time if nothing is received. Most reputable sellers don't want the negative feedback.

You can always dispute your purchase with PayPal they will investigate and then return your money, they are very consumer friendly (sometimes to a fault). If you have reached out a couple of times then I think you have done more than enough.

Do you have your debit card or credit card assigned to paypal? If it is only your checking account, some sellers wait a week to make sure that they receive the funds before sending on the item. If you have your debit or credit card on paypal the funds transfer immediately.

The fact that they have not responded to your email, however, would make me think that perhaps they went out of town or there is a problem with the item. I would wait until the end of the week before reporting or giving negative feedback.

Go to the paypal wesite and file a dispute. It's easy to do and they will contact the seller for you and give you a response.

Sorry to hear that! Sometimes they are on vacation but don't put that on their listings (or they may have it on there someplace you didn't notice). Have you looked at the FAQ-type questions to see what the reporting guidelines are? Good luck!

I would only give them one week after the shipping date they set or after the payment was finalized before reporting the transaction.

I had this happen once--turns out the seller was in a horrible car accident where the driver of her car was killed and seller herself was in the hospital for several weeks. I certainly hope this isn't the case, but it's possible there could be something going on over on the seller's end that's keeping them from fullfilling their end of the transaction. Good luck!
