I had to get induced because i was low on amniotic fluid and long story short I was in labor 3 days the nurses kept telling me to turn and position differently because I was at 3 cm for a while, finally when I reached the right cm to push out my son the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck and he died he was resuscitated and I just want to know if there are any long term problems on brain development. Tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanks
it sounds ghastly and terribly traumatic.
no one here is an expert on brain trauma. but you had doctors in the hospital where you delivered who can and will give you all you need to know.

Said kindly, I really think this is a conversation meant for yourself and your son's pediatrician. We can offer sympathies-- this was obviously a very stressful start to your son's life-- but we are not doctors and should not be offering any advice or anecdotes of this sort. Every case is different and there are a lot of variables. Please make an appointment with your pediatrician today.

My advice would be to talk to your doctor about your particular case. While it's comforting to hear from moms who went through something similar, sometimes their experiences can be quite different and hard to hear. They may not apply to your baby at all. Our doctor always says come to her for advice and tips. Sharing stories can be helpful but your child's prognosis depends on the specifics of his delivery.

As others have said, how awful for you! And while it may seem nice and comforting to reach out to other moms we really have no idea how much your baby was affected or how much he may continue to be. Please work with his pediatrician, take him to every appointment and make sure all your questions are answered. Good luck!

You have a lot on your plate right now. How long ago did this happen?
My now 13 year old son, flat lined on me when he was 4 hours old. They revived him. He is almost 5'8" tall and has a size 13 shoe! He's in all honors classes at school.
My story is not your story. Although I know the fear and horror you experienced, I can only tell you what happened with MY son. We consulted with pulmonologists and neurologists for the first 2 years. I STRONGLY suggest you do the same. ONLY a doctor who has evaluated your son will know if there are any long term problems for him.
I'm truly sorry you experienced such a long and hard child birth.
Our son wasn't breathing when he was born (9 days late) and has a host of brain disorders, including ADHD, OCD and ODD. However, there is no way to confirm that's the reason, because OCD runs in the family and the others may just be comorbid conditions due to that. I'm not sure anyone here can answer your question and I don't know that the pediatrician can, either. I suspect it's just a wait and see approach.
I'm so sorry for what you went though. I assume your Pediatrician will be better equipped to answer your question though, since he/she can actually examine your son and monitor any progress or delays.

You really need to see a neurologist and talk with your pediatrician to get your expectations and things you will need for your son.
