Dr Kagan delivered my twins, and he was great.

When I went in to the office a few weeks after the birth because I was getting winded when walking up the stairs, he ended up sending me to the ER to get checked which was a good thing as I was diagnosed with Postpartum Cardiomyopathy.

Anyway I liked him and I love the practice.

Dr. Kagan assisted Dr. Frangello on the delivery of my daughter last April. He was fine, no problems. When I met him the first time for one of my ob appts I thought he was a bit of a jerk, too because he made a comment about how tight my pants were and that I should switch to maternity wear already (I was about 4 mos along and no one in my family even knew I was pg yet -- my pants weren't even snug). Then after I talked to him in the hospital and at a follow up appt I grew to like him better. Still, he isn't my first choice when I go to DMG. I like Frangello, Webster, Weeks and Seigle for ob/gyn. I haven't been to Phillipi.

Dr. Kagan is a he. And he's okay. He didn't deliver my daughter, but I saw him a few times for gyne appts. after that. He completely blew off my problems, which Dr. Philippi (also at DMG at Rolling Ridge) later diagnosed. In fact, I thought he was a bit of a jerk. I've also seen their new nurse practitioner, Jackie Webster. She & Dr. Philippi are great.

Best of luck!
M.

I used the DuPage Medical Group when I was pregant with my son and loved ALL of them. Dr. Seigel delivered my baby but they were all great. I actually liked the men doctors better than the women.

I don't have any ob experience with him, but Dr. Kagan has been my gynecologist for years. I really like him and he has always completely answered any questions that I have had. I like the office at rolling ridge (my regualar dr. is there as well). I don't seem to wait there like I used to at previous dr.'s offices.

I've had 3 babies with this group so I've had lots of appointments and experience with all the doctors on staff and overall they are all great. I've never had any complaints with any of them. Dr. Kagan is very professional and nice. The only negative thing about this group is the LONG office waits!

Hi C.,

I am sure youve had plenty of responses on this and already made a decision, but I wanted to put my two cents in, as my experience with Dr. Kagan was very upsetting. First, he does not have a very good bedside manner in my opinion - example - 7 months pregnant, lie back on the table for palpation, he walks away and leaves me to struggle to sit up - i was like a turtle on it's shell at this stage of my pregnancy... every other doctor offers help sitting up - he has never. by the way, i actually fell off the side of the table trying to get up on my own. secondly, he was the one who received my AFP results and called me to give me the results. i got several calls, with no message (i had a young baby at the time and couldnt always answer calls as they came in) I called the office back they couldn't tell me why anybody was calling me - i told them i was waiting for test results, they said there was nothing back yet and couldnt figure out who was calling me or why. so i get another call, i JUST missed it - Dr. Kagan left me a voicemail finally and said my test results indicate an increased risk for downs - about 1 in 119 chance and at this point we can go for a level II ultrasound or have an amnio and if i have any questions, i can call them back. DUH! of COURSE i have questions!! I call back within 5 minutes - i get 'i'm sorry, Dr. Kagan left for the day' (it's 12:15 in the afternoon on a friday) - nobody will answer my questions because they dont have my file - Dr. Kagan has it, and they won't be able to give me any answers until my file is back in Bloomingdale on Tuesday because Monday is a holiday. So he delivers that kind of news via voicemail to a woman who is pregnant, hormonal, and is off the medication that keeps her anxiety attacks from being severe since it's not safe for the baby, and then I can't get any answers for another 4 days?!?! Needless to say - I was LIVID! I told one of the nurses about what happened and she even said, that was wrong of him to do. Another doctor also agreed that it was not handled properly and apologized on his behalf.

I flat out REFUSE to see Dr. Kagan. I like Dr. Phillipi - she is never on time but is worth the wait. Dr. Frangella delivered my now 14 month old son - she's great too. Dr. Martin just delivered my 5 week old via emergency c-section - he is AWESOME - great bedside manner and takes the time to talk to you... he actually came to my side after they put the curtain up for my surgery, he touched my face and reassured me like a human being, not a doctor... he held my hand and told me I was going to be ok. Dr. Weeks - another great guy...

Ultimately, we all connect with people differently, but those are the examples I have to back up why I dislike him. I don't think he should be practicing Obstetrics - maybe gynecology, but you need a finesse that's less cold to deal with pregnant women.

Good Luck!

Dr. Kagan is one of my favorite OB doctors at Dupage Medical. I had my first child 2 years ago and saw him for a couple appointments. He was there when I started labor but when the shift change came Dr. Weeks was actually the one who delivered. I am now starting my second trimester with baby #2 and have seen Dr. Kagan for my first three appts. I wouldn't classify him as a jerk, he has a bit od sarcasm but pleasantly welcome because my husband and I are similar with life and humor. He has always answered any questions we have had and is very open to anything that you bring to him. Dr. Philippi is nice as well if you prefer a woman doctor, but I found it very hard to get an appointment with her. If Rolling Ridge is your office of choice, then Dr. Martin, Dr. Kagan, or Dr. Frangella are your best bet. Some of the doctors prefer to stay out of the Danada office, which, if you're in Naperville or Plainfield it can be a bit inconvenient for going to appointments.
Best of Luck - They are all very good at this practice which is why I am going back for baby #2!

Side note: I did NOT care for Dr. Bernardo. She is the only one I care never to see again. I also know someone who works at this practice and doesn't care for her as a co-worker either.

Dr Kagan is awesome, but the practice sucks. In my second pregnancy I vowed to find a midwife with my next one...which is still theoretical...but I couldn't handle the long wait. I was too much of a raging hormonal mess and I hated sitting in a paper gown with a toddler crabbing and exploring for 45 minutes to an hour. And there is one total creep of a doctor in the practice I think it's Dr Phillipi? She was on call when I was having my first, I refused to even see her in the office with my second pregnancy. I would probably still go with them, but never EVER schedule anything with in two hours of an appointment and bring books.
