So I need advise please! I purchased a car in 2006, and am down to 1 payment. I did purchase a 10 year extened warrenty on it, and its inclued "normal wear & tear". Well my clutch is going out. Soooooo I call my warrenty co twice, spoke to 2 different people. My MAIN concern was clutch. The guy said it WAS covered, but for other small things to tale it into shop, run diagnostic and then shop calls warrenty place to see what's covered. Well, so we get a call from place fixing the car and they that warrenty people say we are not covered on "wear & tear" so I call warrenty place. Woman tells me flat out nope your not so clucth is not covered. She goes further to say we have notes the 2 times you called & have notes, and you did NOT ask about clutch at all. I said yes I did, twice, both times, and that was out MAIN BIG concern, and that guy said it was covered. She said I doubt he said that, um I am not lying woman. The warrenty was in car at shop. We just went and got it out, and right there we have WEAR AND TEAR! Now its after 5 and warrenty place closed. So tomorrow 1st thing I am calling, but what do I say? Shop said it should be covered, car dealership said yes, its just the warrenty place.....ugh I am so frustrated.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I do have my warrenty right here, got it out of my car. WEAR AND TEAR boxed checked, we are covered, clutch should be covered, right here in black and white, problem is the warrenty place is saying we have warrenty but not the wear and tear option so the won't cover clutch. :(

Every warranty company will provide you with a pamphlet of the warranty, what it covers, etc.

Clutches to me? Normal wear and tear.. like brakes and wiper blades...AND most extended warranty coverages make you wait 1,000 miles AND one month....so if your clutch is going NOW? I doubt you can wait 1,000 miles and 30 days...

I will tell you from experience, I have NEVER had ANY good luck with extended warranty programs that were offered by companies OTHER than the maker of the car.

GOOD LUCK!!

Ask them to send you a copy of your warranty so you can see what is and is not covered. In the mean time read your copy so you know where it is covered.

Usually if they are lying they will come clean when you ask them to send a copy if not you need to be prepared to read from your own copy.

Extended warranty places will give you the biggest runaround on what they will and will not cover. They will outright lie. It is in their best interest to make it so frustrating for you that you end up not having them pay for things that ARE covered. I have never heard of one that was not like this, and I've even had one go out of business before our car was out of the original dealer warranty. Good luck, keep pressing them to pay.

No extended warranty covers wear and tear on normally replaced/worn out items (think tires).
