My four-month old son keeps rubing his eyes. His eyelids look red. Anything wrong that I should see doctor right away? Your advice is highly appreciated!

What can I do next?

He may have pink eye which is a highly contagious eye infection. I would take him in as soon as possible.

If you can rule out infections, check out www.infantsee.org
Its a non-profit designed to make sure babies eyes are developing properly and to detect early problems.

Good luck!

Perhaps allergies?

I guess, I'd take him to the pediatrician first to rule out any allergies or infections. If the pediatrician thinks it's any other problem they would probably advise if you needed to see an eye doctor.

Pink eye is going around. My son was just sent home from day care because his eyes were red. He's going to see the doctor this morning.

It is always good to ask your doctor. My son had red flaky eyelids and they told me it was just dry skin. I was breastfeeding at the time and was able to use breast milk to heal the rash. This is your first baby don't feel bad about going to the doctor when you don't know if you should or not. I hope this clears up quickly and that you don't have to worry.

Maybe it's allergies? Whether from pets, dust, or pollen. If it's been over two weeks I'd bring him in to get checked out. It could be pink eye too which is highly contagious.
