How 'bout the new Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus duet that is out. Sorry I forget the name of it but they performed it on GMA and it was pretty good.
Hello,
My 27 year old sister is getting married May 15th and she has called me and asked me for some group dance songs, and the father/daughter dance. It's hard, finding something that's good. All i can think of is Butterfly kisses. Any songs, that we can dance too, as a group & songs for a good father/daughter dance song for her? I want her to have a great night as always.
Thank youuuuu!
Ladies!
I would like to take this time to thank you SO much on helping my sister and I out with this. I told her about everyone's response, and she's looking into some of the songs :) I couldnt have done it without you all, once again!
Take Care & God Bless.

Unless your sister wants to surprise your dad, I suggest that she ask him for his preferences. When my husband and I were married, my dad and I picked one of the traditional father-daughter songs (or so I thought). It turns out that he had made arrangements with the DJ to play a song with very personal significance - it was the song that he had always told me that he heard in the car on the morning after I was born. Since this dance is really about your dad's love for your sister, he may have something that he'd really like to use (or that he really likes to dance to).
My dad and I danced to 'When She Smiled at Him' by Suzy Bogguss. My dad told me that song reminded me of him when I was 12, and so it was a no brainer when I got married that it would be our song. A good group dance is 'Friends are Friends Forever' Michael W Smith....and my brother and I danced at his wedding to 'Rainbow Connection' by Sarah McClaughlin. Yes....Kermit the Frog sang it too.....but we opted for Sarah's version. 'What a Wonderful World' was my and my husbands first dance. It's a great song for a great day!! Hope this helps!!
do a google for father daughter wedding songs. that is how i found my song, have her look at the lyrics and pick one that feels right to her
"I Loved Her First" is PERFECT, my cousin used it for her father/daughter dance. I can't remember the name of the country act that sings it, but it's a great song.
"What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong is a classic!
Alison Krauss - When You Say Nothing at All
Beatles - In My Life
Frank Sinatra - The Way You Look Tonight
Check this out for other suggestions:

"i hope you dance" by lee ann womack
"what a wonderful world" louis armstrong or many others
My dad and I danced to "my girl"... my dad loves oldies and we wanted something more upbeat.
You sound like a great mom with a positive outlook on life. Best of luck with your graduation and future college goals.
I danced with my father to "Through the years" by Kenny Rogers
I don't even remember what they played for the wedding party. There are some great songs being thrown out and all are appropriate. Ask the DJ or band that will be playing the music. They should be able to give youa list of songs titles to choose from.
Best of luck
Hi S.,
I know you got a lot of responses, that's great! I love Mamasource. Anyway, here are my recommendations (what I used at my wedding.
Father/Daughter - Daddy's Little Girl by Al Martino (a real tear jerker) Here is a link to the lyrics. If you go to Amazon and type in his name, select the first album that pops up and you can listen to a sample (track 17). http://www.lyricsdownload.com/al-martino-daddy-s-little-g...
Mother/Son - Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler
Wedding Party - Friends by Michael W. and Deborah Smith
Good luck! This was the best day of my life (next to have my 3 wonderful babies!)
M. :)
**I just found a website that you can listen to the whole song.

Hi S., I am not sure if your sister is opposed to any type of music. I know country music has a couple of newer songs that are great for a father/daughter dance. One is "I Loved Her First" by Heartland. It is a father talking about watching his daughter and her husband dancing and about how he loved her first, and held first and how a place in his heart will always be hers. It's very good and appropriate for a wedding. Another one is "Stealing Cinderella" by Chuck Wicks. It's about a guy going to meet his girlfriend's dad to ask him for her hand in marriage and the dad leaves him in the living room with all these photos of her growing up. In one she was playing cinderella, in another she dancing with her dad staring up at him, and then at the end of the song she comes in and gives her dad a big hug. Either song would be very appropriate and in my opinion a tear jerker.
I hope this helps.
D.
Paul Simon- father and daughter. It was my husbands dance with his daughter at our wedding. Just a beautiful song. Makes me cry every time.
Good luck!
I loved her first by Heartland. Oh my.....awesome tear jerker of a song! the lyrics are great.
group dance for the family...We are family!
Try "In my Daughter's Eyes" by Trisha Yearwood is pretty. You might also google "daughter songs" or "father songs" for some ideas.
Best of luck,
L.
My Dad and I danced to Wind Beneath My Wings (Bette Midler)...have fun!
"Stealing Cinderella" by Chuck Wicks - my dad surprised me and played it at my wedding - very good song. I actually had 2 Father/Daughter dances - the other was "I Loved Her First" by Heartland. Depending on how sentimental your sister and/or your dad is, they should listen to the lyrics and pick whichever song (among so many out there)hits home the most for them. It's a special time so it should be a special song. :)
As a wedding planner and photographer, this is a favorite subject of mine. There TONS of great songs out there. My favorites for father daughter dances are:
"My Little Girl" - Tim McGraw
"I Loved Her First" - Heartland
"It Won't Be Like This for Long" - Darius Rucker
"You're Gonna Miss This" - Trace Atkins
Not sure what kind of group dances you are referring to - the bridal party dance or general group dances?
For the bridal party dances or for an anniversary dance, I like Alan Jackson's "Remember When".
Feel free to email me personally for more suggestions.

Dear S.,
I don't know what you mean by "group dance songs" and I do not know the "butterfly Kisses" song either, sorry.
But some father/daughter songs I know are:John Mayer's "daughter" song on Heavier things; or Paul Simon's "father and daughter" on ITUNES.
Or not specific to Fathers & daughters but wonderful parent songs none the less; Ray LaMontagne's "be here now" or Jack Johnson and Matt Costa's "lullaby" from his soundtrack to the curious george movie.
Or just a lovely song about a little girl; Yael Naim's "far far".
Song about love and marriage and life and struggle; Bonnie Raitt & Jackson Brown's duet "kisses sweeter than wine".
Here is also a link to search father/daughter wedding dance songs; http://www.yourweddingplace.com/wedding-songs/father-daug...
It is a nice thing you are doing for your sister.
And regarding your "a little about me"; you should be very proud of yourself! You can do it and it is inspirational that you are continuing with your schooling. Don't EVER let anyone tell you you can't because you can! It is wonderful that you have amazing support.
Fondly,
ann m.
My Girl...if you want something more upbeat. Good luck!
I agree with the posters who said that she should talk to dad to see if he has any ideas. My father and I danced to a very unusual song, "Sunrise, Sunset" from the Musical Fiddler On The Roof. It's a beautiful song and I liked it, but my father was adamit about that being the song we used. Good luck with picking a song, and the DJ you hire should have plenty of ideas for both group songs and other father/daughter and even mother/son songs.
It won't be lke this for long by Deruis Ruckert it is about little girls growing up too fast. It is a contry song.
good luck
T.
If you have any Italian heritage (or even if you don't!) - My Dad and I danced to Non Dimenticar by Dean Martin.
It starts out:
Non Dimenticar means don't forget you are my darling
Don't forget to be
all you mean to me
Non Dimenticar my love is like a star my darling
Shining bright and clear
Just because you're here
It is a really beautiful song, but very "old-time"
Our Wedding Party dance was Celine Dion/R. Kelly - "I Am Your Angel"
I hope you Dance by Lee Ann Womack is a great song.
I danced with my dad to Because you loved me by Celine Dion, which a few people have already said.
My Wish by Rascall Flats is awesome. Great lyrics.
Group dances:
I'm walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves
Superstitious by Stevie Wonder
These are the Days - 10,000 maniacs
Love Shack - B52s
You should be Dancin' - the Bee Gees
She Love You - The Beatles
Groove is in the Heart - DeeLite
I've had the Time of my life -Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes
Good luck!
Two Songs I know of are
"Cinderella" by Steven Curtis Chapman (my little sister danced to this song with our father)
"If I Could" by Ray Charles (I danced with my dad to this song)
I also danced to wind beneath my wings but Bette. It was great. I danced with the wedding party to James Taylor "You've got a friend". Have fun.
How about "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder for the father/daughter dance? I danced to "My Girl" by The Temptations with my father at my wedding. I wanted something a little more upbeat as I knew both my dad & I would be a mess if we did something like "Butterfly Kisses".
This is such a coincidence. I just heard a song today that was on Rachael Ray last week i think that I told my husband if we were to get married now instead of 4 years ago I would have used this song. 'Butterfly Fly Away' by Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus. It is from the Daughter to the Father. It is really pretty. I used 'Butterfly Kisses' but I wish this song was out then, I would have used it. Good luck and Congrats to your sister! T.
I danced w/ my brother to Kenny Roger's "Through the Years" which I think would also be appropriate for a father/daughter dance. Have fun!
"Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion for the Dad/daughter
"We Are Family" for the group
"What A wonderful World" for the group
That's all the ideas I have for now. Good Luck!
What a fun job you have!
I agree with: I Loved Her First. It's a country song but not twangy. It sounds like the song was written by a dad for his daughter's wedding day.
For a group dance, try the Cupid Shuffle. It sounds a little hip hop (which I don't like) but the song is infectious and the dance is easy. It tells you the steps in the song.
All three electric slides -- unless there are more and I'm just out of it : )
How about the old Soul City Walk?
Have a great time.
Here's what we used:
Father/Daughter: Wind Beneath My Wings (Bette Midler)
Mother/Son: Through The Years (Kenny Rogers)
Bridal Party: I Hope You Dance (Lee Ann Womack)
Family: Because You Loved Me (Celine Dion)
Bride/Groom: Endless Love (Lionel Ritchie & Diana Ross)
As for dance songs, I could go on and on, but here are a few (mostly oldies b/c almost everyone will dance to them, but a few newer songs, too):
Build Me Up Buttercup (Foundations)
Double Dutch Bus (Frankie Smith)
Hey Ya! (Outkast)
Rapper's Delight (Sugar Hill Gang)
Runaround Sue (Dion)
The First, The Last, Everything (Barry White)
Walking on Sunshine (Katrina & the Waves)
Apache (Sugar Hill Gang)
Don't Stop Til You Get Enough (Michael Jackson)
Footloose (Kenny Loggins)
I Will Survive (Gloria Gaynor)
Old Time Rock & Roll
Rock Your Body (Justin Timberlake)
Crazy In Love (Beyonce)
Only The Good Die Young (Billy Joel)
Holiday (Madonna)
Congrats & best wishes to your sister!
I don't know if these songs will help but my father and I danced to "In my daughter's eyes" by Martina McBride and my sister used a song by Josh Grobin. Hope it helps. "In my Life" by the Beatles is a great song also.
I am a kid's d.j. but I do offer services for our local elementary school's annual Father/Daughter dance, I really like " My little girl" by Tim McGraw, and "Stealing Cinderella" by Chuck Wicks. The latter works better of course for first time brides as opposed to kids, have fun !
butterfly kisses and dance with my father tonight
Here's another song you may want to check out for Father/Daughter dance - Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman.
My sister didn't think that 'Daddy's little girl' applied so she used "When Irish Eyes are Smiling". An Irish classic.
Not sure about the father/daughter dance as my father was not at my wedding. But there is Daddy's Little Girl.
For the wedding party, we used Kokomo by the Beach Boys. It was slow enough to dance as couples, but not so mushy and romantic for the wedding party, and was fun and festive.

My dad and I danced to Celine Dion's "Because You Love Me". Congrats to your sister. I hope you enjoy the day!
I had my wedding last year and my dad picked the song its "I loved her first" by Heartland. Its a really good song. Here are the lyrics for you too take a look.
Look at the two of you dancing that way
Lost in the moment and each others face
So much in love your alone in this place
Like there's nobody else in the world
I was enough for her not long ago
I was her number one
She told me so
And she still means the world to me
Just so you know
So be careful when you hold my girl
Time changes everything
Life must go on
And I'm not gonna stand in your way
But I loved her first and I held her first
And a place in my heart will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But it still hard to give her away
I loved her first
How could that beautiful women with you
Be the same freckle face kid that I knew
The one that I read all those fairy tales to
And tucked into bed all those nights
And I knew the first time I saw you with her
It was only a matter of time
But I loved her first and I held her first
And a place in my heart will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But its still hard to give her away
I loved her first
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
Someday you might know what I'm going through
When a miracle smiles up at you
I loved her first
My father and I danced to "Kind and Generous" by Natalie Merchant. We are both fans of 10,000 Maniacs and the song had meaningful lyrics. Good luck! Best wishes to your sister
My dad and I danced to "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole/Natalie Cole. My husband and his mother danced to "Becasue you loved me" by Celine Dion
Wind Beneath My Wings from Bette Midler was my song with my dad ! We both cried the whole time.
It looks like you have great suggestions for the father/daughter dance, so here are some more group dances- Celebration (by Kool and the Gang), YMCA (by the Village People), Macarena, Electric Slide, The Locomotion, The Chicken Dance (depending on the crowd you have- it's pretty fun), and maybe even The Limbo. Just some suggestions. You can cater the types of dances to your audience.
Hope this helps.
It would make it more special if the song "meant" something to your dad. I picked Nat King Cole's "Unforgetable" - I knew my dad liked that song...and I thought the song would fit the theme (i.e. his little girl will never forget him, etc). She even may want to ask her dad - he may have a song in mind. I think Dad's dream of their daughter's wedding days too :)
Daddy's Girl - Red Sovine
First of all, congrats on finishing high school and going for your BSN! I've been a nurse for 9 years and I think it is a wonderful profession. I now teaching BSN nursing students. Good luck!
My father/daughter dance was actually with my uncle since my dad couldn't be there. We danced to "There You'll Be" by Celine Dion. Another one I really like is "Through the Years" (don't know the artist).
Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman is awesome, and so perfect for the occasion - and newer, so not something that "everyone" has used before.
You can hear it here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUk5SZ18WhY
Lyrics here:
http://www.metrolyrics.com/cinderella-lyrics-steven-curti...
I'd also check out Daddy's Little Girl (that was mine, but I'd have used Cinderella if it had been out.)
Electric Slide is a popular group/line dance song, if that's what you mean.
Have fun!
Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman. It is a beautiful song. The Wind Beneath my Wings by Bette Midler
It's a country song, and I don't know if your family likes that -- but it's not twangy -- called, "I Loved Her First". It's a tear jerker. . . .
how about one of these:
I am your child - barry manilow
my girl - the temptations
S., "I loved her first" by Heartland is beautiful.
Good luck! A.
