Finding a New OB GYN

I live in the Dallas area and currently looking for a new OB GYN. My husband and I didn't agree with MANY methods and theories that my last OB GYN had, so we want a new one for our second pregnancy. Our last doctor was going to give us no choice but to have a C-Section if my baby was estimated to be over 10 lbs. If I disagreed and sought to have the baby naturally, he would have made me sign a waiver. We felt pressured. Needless to say, I was happy when "our" doctor ended up taking many vacations during the end of my pregnancy(it was late December) and another doctor in his office ended up delivering my baby. We do like this other doctor who actually delivered our baby, but I would prefer to never see "our" doctor ever again. I would like another doctor at Presbyterian of Dallas. Any suggestions?

I see Dr. Tracy Nivens at Presby of Plano. Don't know which Presby you go to, but she is awesome and her office was always so pleasant. I had a great first pregnancy and I thank her for it.

Good luck,
Randa

Dr. Perugini is my OBGYN. She is at Presby @ Dallas/Margot Perot. She has 2 partners both female, Jennifer Freeman, & Liesl Smith. Dr. Smith actually delivered my son last year and was wonderful! Dr. Perugini has been my doctor for over ten years and I have recommended many family & friends to her and everyone really likes her. Her office # is 214/345-8485.

I had a few friends who went through the Womens Health Center at Presby and they liked them, I personally didn't have a good experience there. But I do have to say if you would like a smaller hospital then Doctors off Garland and Buckner Blvd. is amazing. I had 2 of my 3 kids there. The Doctor that I used was great. Her name is Janet Frost...as far as a baby being over 10 lbs and needing a c-section my daughter was 11lbs 8oz and I had her with the help of epicural only:) Anyway hope this helps and GOOD LUCK!!

I've seen Dr. Gregory Chapman with Health Central Women's Care at Presby Dallas for two of my three pregnancies and just adore him. I always made my appts for after lunch, so I never had to wait long. My four year old went to my OB appts with me and was always made welcome; Dr. Chapman always took time to speak with her, remembered details we shared with him about our family and new baby. When we were in the hospital post delivery, he would sit down in our room to talk with us about things rather than rushing in and out. I really can't say enough good things about him! I will say, however, that I've had three c-sections (two at Presby with Dr. Chapman). Dr. Chapman did encourage me (did not pressure me, however) to go for the repeat rather than attempt a VBAC but ultimately left the decision up to me.

I love my doctor at Presby Dallas -- Dr. Julie Hagood. She's wonderful-- patient -- answers all my questions no matter how trivial.

One thing you may want to keep in mind if you're really anti-C-section -- Presby Dallas does have one of the highest rates of c-sections in Texas.
For me, that's a good thing b/c I had surgery several years ago that makes a c-section necessary, but you may want to look into other hospitals with lower c-section rates.
