I take the Omega-3 gummy fish made for kids by L'il Critters. They have them at Costco, and they taste like candy.
I know that it is highly recommended to take fish oil supplements. However, I hate fish. All fish. Grosses me out. Is there a fish oil supplement that doesn't smell like fish or come back up (in a burp) tasting of fish. Am I asking the impossible?
Thank you all for the alternatives for getting my omegas. Lots of great ideas. My only experience with these supplements were the gel tabs I bought at Costco and gave to my dog for his skin health and they were stinky! lol I also had a friend that said she would burp up a fish taste so I will pass this information on to her as well. Thank you all!!!

Dr. Oz was talking about these on his show yesterday. He said taking fish oil is an absolute must for women over 40 and a good idea for most people in general (along with a multi-vit, vit d, and calcium w/magnesium). Anyway, he said that if you get a fish taste, it is usually because they are spoiled and studies have shown that certain brands are spoiled even when they get on the shelf. Doesn't do any harm, but it just gives that taste. So, you might need to try a couple different brands, and then keep them in the fridge too.
Our family takes Nordic Naturals Omega 3-6-9 supplments (found at Whole Foods and Sunflower Markets). They are made from fish that do not have mercury in them (very important!) and come in gel cap form so that you can just swallow them with a gulp of water so that you will never taste the fish (if that's even possible). The supplements that they make for children come in lemon and strawberry flavors if that is preferrable for you.
Also, flax seed oil is a great source of omega 3 fatty acid. Instead of taking the omega supplement, I will just mix a tablespoon of the flax seed oil a little bit of my salad dressing and toss it in my salad. Can't tell the difference at all!
Hope this helps.
Take Krill oil instead. The pills are smaller and you DO NOT burp them up. Here is a link that tells a little about it. They are pricey but worth it... I've been taking them for a few mos now for a back problem and my hub has bercitus at this time of year and so far he hasnt felt any pain.

Nordic naturals is a great one, but the hubby and I take the Kirkland brand. I have found that if you freeze them and take them with food, you will have a fish-burp-free experience!
my friend said they make strawberry flavored ones.

I use Shaklee's OmegaGuard. They are pure and no burping problems.
You have to be very careful with omegas. Most are contaminated or have gone bad on the shelf.
Victoria
store them in the refrigerator and take them half way through a meal.
There are odorless capsules. Trader Joe's has them.
I've had good luck with Costco's Kirkland brand. I believe it's 180 gels tabs per bottle and they are white. Otherwise, if you don't mind spending a lot of money Nordic Naturals has one that is strawberry scented and is about as mild tasting as you can get.
i couldnt swallow them, they are so huge. My doc recommended krill because they are smaller.
Take the kind that have a coating on them.
I use the Kirkland brand (Costco) gel capsules fish oil. I always take it with food or a glass of milk. I too have had the burping problem, and solved it this way. If this doesn't work for you, you can try the ones for children. We use Dr. Sears brand for our twin boys. The are mercury free. The come in liquid form (strawberry lemon flavor), chewable gel capsules (orange flavor), and in fruit chews (several flavors). The boys love all of them, but I think the chewable gel capsules are weird due to the gelatin. If you just swallow them you don't have this issue. The fruit chews are the best I have ever tasted. I'll eat them just for snacks sometimes. My husband makes fun of me when he catches me.
All the flavors are very good. You can get any of the Dr. Sears products at Amazon & your local health food retailer. We get ours from the Dr. Sears' website. If you join their mailing list, they send you e-coupons and let you know when they are having specials. They usually have buy 1 get 1 offers, which is a huge savings.
Hope this helps!
I wonder if the gummy ones for kids work the same if adults take them? mmmm LOL We also take fish oil at home but, as mentioned by a previous post, we use the one without mercury. I give my daughter the gummy ones (little critter's brand).
Spectrum carries good fish oil supplements. Whole Foods and other natural stores carry it. VERY important to store in the fridge.
You could try the Expecta DHA supplements instead:

They are pricey, but not fishy at least.
try the ones for kids. they have lemon, etc flavor and are quite yummy.
there's also a brand called "nordic berries" that are delicious but more like candy. watch the amount of fish oil in the supplement to make sure you're getting enough.
you can also get omegas from other sources like flax, but i don;t think it's the same.
good luck!
My daughter takes flaxseed oil instead of fish oil it is also an omega supplement.
I take Cod Liver Oil, and I have never noticed a fishy smell and I've never burped up any fishy taste. And they work great.
Trader Joes has an odorless Omega 3.
Hi,
Here are two omega-3 supplements from Nature's Sunshine. Their products are NSF certified. That means what you read on the label is true. Make sure any other brand you take is certified or else the label may not be accurate. Also, these have lemon added to them so you don't get the fishy aftertaste. If you become a member, you can buy these items at wholesale prices. They also have lots of other great products and supplements. Good luck!

I get one that is at Sam's and even Costco has them. They are one pill a day and no after taste. It is the Omega Three with all the good oils like 1200 mgs, but I can't t remember the actual name. It is the only one that is one pill a day. all the others require like three a day.
You should be able to find it in the vitamin area.
I take one that isn't made wth fish oil and it is vegan. It is natural, organic and whole food. If you want info let me know.
