Anybody out there give their children Omega 3-6-9? Which brand do you like? I have been giving my 3 year old a liquid form of the fish oil by putting it in his juice, but lately he has been noticing the "fishy" smell/taste and won't drink it anymore. I really want to continue giving him fish oil, but I have yet to find a form of it that he can tolerate. He will not bite into the gel tabs (the ones with the oil inside the "tablet") and will not chew the gummies. Argggg! Are there any kinds that are similar to Flinstone vitamins? He likes those! Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

Hi! My toddler boy loves Coromega. The regular kind not the kid version as I think it is a marketing gimmick. I have been taking it for years and as he gets older he gets curious about what I take and he always wanted to try my Coromega and I would suck as much as I could as it comes in a pudding form and he would suck the rest. I found that they were selling the kid version and it said do not test under 4 but I told them that he showed not averse effects when I gave him the regular kind. I got the kid lime flavor that was the only one selling at my near Whole Food but I took it as he did not like that flavor. He likes my orange flavor. I went back to buying my version and we both have it. I asked his doc if that was okay and also I give him two as he wants seconds and he only finishes half of them and she said it was okay. Try the kid version for yourself and you the mommy as we all could use more Omega 3s too. I hope this helps. Anymore questions let me know. You're doing a great service starting your child be healthy from the start.

Trader Joes make fish gummies for kids that don't taste fishy. We try to guess which animal we'll get and make it fun and exciting to take vitamins (my daughter calls them medicinamin).

We use Nordic Naturals. It's comes in a gel capsule which I break open and mix the contents in applesauce with a little bit of cinnamon to cover the taste. My son's been okay with it so far.

Will your son chew regular fruit gummies? If so, you might just need to find a different brand of omega that tastes better to him and not let him know that they're "fishy" vitamins. I've been giving my kids L'il Critters Omega 3 Gummy Fish, which they say taste good. Twogummies contain 200 mg of Omega-3 DHA blend, but from salvia hispanica seed extract and marine algae. I know someone who swears by Nordic Omega-3 Gummies, which do get their 82 mg of Omegas from fish oil. Maybe you could tell me which is better! Good luck with getting your son back on the supplements.

Try the Brand "Animal Parade." They make ALL kinds of kids vitamins... the omegas as well.
If you go to your natural food store... ask for "samples" first. Then take it home and try it on your kid. That is what I do... then I don't waste money buying something then my kids hating the taste. BUT.. I have found the Animal Parade brand to be most successful with my kids.
Good luck,
Susan

Hi Jen,
Shaklee makes a wonderful supplement for kids called Mighty Smart. The multivitamin, Incredivites tastes sort of like a sweet tart. You can find it and other children's supplements at http://www.shaklee.net/healthforlife
I was giving Flintstones vitamins to my son before I found out about Shaklee. It is a worthless vitamin and contains coal tar and sugar. Bake one of them in the over for a few minutes and you will probably be disgusted by what you see and smell.
Shaklee is the number one seller of natural supplements. Everything they do is based on sound science. They have more peer reviewed published research that all the other supplement companies combined. You can always trust the products to work and be safe.

Hi Jen! We use Nordic Naturals. One thing I recommend is to not get the type with omega 6 in it. We naturally get high amounts of omega 6 in our food supply and our bodies need double the amount of Omega 3 to compensate.
Nordic Naturals and Carlson brands have formulas with just Omega 3.

I hate to say it but the oil itself is the best bet. Do you get flavored fish oil? My kids like the Orange or strawberry flavors.

My company has a great child's supplement shake that has the omegas, in addition to other "brain food", viatmins, minerals, and all that a child's growing body needs to thrive. My kids are now 3 & almost 5 years and have been taking it since infancy. They're rarely sick, even a cold is slight.
Comes in chocolate and vanilla, and can be 'shaken' with water, juice, or milk. My kids LOVE it and dont' go a day w/o it.
