Football moms...Seahawks Win Legit?

That last play last night was CRAZY! The call was ridiculous. I'm sure the subs are feeling the pressure. I don't blame Green Bay for leaving early.

So, are you guys celebrating loudly or quietly in Seattle?

Here's hoping it won't come to replacement coaches or players!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Fyi...Texans are 3-0 btw...

Bri's mom, you are cracking me UP! But I hope you don't flagged for language. Yes, I agree, even a 3 yr old could tell it was an interception or incomplete at the very least. I love how Tate got one last push in before he "made the catch". I wonder if how he slept last night.

Tad, I love ya but how is one hand on the ball considered possession???

I love David Letterman's take on the whole thing "everyone has a problem with the replacement refs except for Seattle". Here's to a better Week 4. Good luck to all teams!

ABSOLUTELY NOT! I don't even really follow either one of them that much but saw the play and Green Bay totally had it. Green Bay laying on his back with the ball cradled pretty tightly and the Seahawk under him reaching around his shoulder trying to take it from him. Worst call I have ever seen. What I thought was funny was one ref says touchdown and the other says incomplete. HELLO even my 3 yr old could tell that was an interception and the game should have been over with Green Bay winning. Could you hear the stands booing?

I think Seattle would have been smart to say that they don't like winning games that way. I know precious little about football and even I could tell it was not a touchdown! Sad, sad. Glad I'm not a Packers fan, I'd be a wreck!

A hand on the ball is posession? Wow, I've got a lot of games to review, the Broncos must have a better record than I thought!

(Good game on Sunday, btw. Hated losing to you guys, but everyone in Denver loves Kubiak so it wasn't a tough loss. It's not like losing to a rival like the Raiders or the cheaters, I mean Patriots). :-)

Manda is correct about the rule, but in order for it to apply both teams would have to have had possession. That was not the case on this play. The Packer, Jennings, caught the ball, brought it to his chest and maintained possession when he hit the ground.

The refs made a number of really bad calls, in both directions all night, but this was the worst I've ever seen.

Oh, and in the interest of full disclosure, I am a Packers fan. My Chicago-born husband, however, is decidedly not, and even he says the refs got it wrong.

Tell me Jennings doesn't have possession of the ball.

That was a HORRIBLE call. Disgusting.

I am also and TEXANS fan ~ woo hoo!! Even though I am in WA state I am not a Seahawks fan but I still think the call was absolutely horrible b/c there was P.I. that was completely ignored!!

EDIT: LEGIT???!! Are you frickin' kidding me?! Tate should have been called on P.I. and the catch wouldn't even be an issue. I wouldn't celebrate a win like that if I was a Seahawk fan.

I'm a Bears fan...so I'm not upset the Pack lost. BUT...they got screwed! They had the ball, they should have won the game. These replacements refs are awful!!! I could do a better job...though, I actually know the rules, so I might be over-qualified to be a replacement ref!

ADDED: Ok, I just watched the play again and it was the right call. The offensive team gets possession. These refs still suck tho!

Don't get me started. The last call was painfully obvious, not to mention the pass interference call made a little earlier. The photo of the two refs looking down and one signalling a touchdown and the other signalling an interception just about sums up the game. What a joke. I can't even imagine the flight home for the team.

I would not want to be in the ref's shoes right now.

GO PACK, GO!!!!! Cheeseheads rock!

I woke up to my husband watching clips and being outraged. He is a Pat's fan he is still upset about the loss on Sunday, for those of you who don't know there was a record number of flags and penalty yards in the Pat's game on Sunday. He says he doesn't want to watch another game until the old refs come back because they are taking away from the game.

To get back to the question, I watched the clip this morning, although blurry eyed and not fully awake I could tell Green Bay got screwed out of a win.

It was legit!

Had Jennings been on the bottom of the pile and hit the ground first, then it would be a GB Pick up and they would have won the game.

The ball was in both Jennings and Tate's hands. Tate came down first.....Holding the ball in his hands. It is not fumbled out of his hands. They went down together. Both in control of the ball. It comes down to who hit the ground first.

LET'S GO SEAHAWKS, LET'S GO. LET'S GO SEAHAWKS, LET'S GO!!!!

Oh and Clemons was on fire......I think I lost count of how many times Rodgers got sac'd.....Most all being Clemons!!!!

I mean really that game could not have been anymore nail biting!!!

We(plus like three house on this block)all went nuts...VICTORY DANCE BABY!!!!!! you could hear all of us two blocks away!

Both hands were on the ball. Or Jennings would have Picked it off completely. The only way Tate kept possession was by having two hands on the ball. If you look very very closely you can see each Jennings and Tate both had Possession. It comes down to who hit the crowd first.

Had there been complete uncertainty they would have called for a repeat from where they had the ball. Booth review came back that they made the Touch down.

I am not saying it was not close. I am just saying the they called it the way they did because of who and how they came down. Tate had Possession of the ball, as well as Jenning's. Tate hit the ground first.

We sat and watched that play over and over and over...Even after they came out to do the field goal. It was literally seconds that made this a win for the Seahawks.

I thought it was pretty clear that Jennings had possession but my husband begs to differ. He made a good point with this analogy: if a pass is thrown and the receiver catches it (like Jennings did) and a defender gets an arm in (like Tate) and rips the ball out, it would be an incomplete pass not a fumble. He viewed it as a "tie" that goes to the offense even though Jennings clearly had more of the ball. I still think Jennings had possession but at least I can see the other side of the argument.

I thought that pass interference call was even worse. That alone could have cost Green Bay the game.

I'm just hoping nobody else gets seriously hurt as players get more and more aggressive knowing they won't get calls. I've never seen football like this!

Oh I tried to answer this at work earlier and it wouldn't let me respond - but THE REFS ARE HORRIBLE!!!! The games are being officiated so poorly this year. Seriously, the good teams are losing and the bad teams are winning? Heck, I'm even starting to root for the Steelers and I can't stand them!!

The teams that are winning on poor calls should be ashamed of themselves.

GO PATS!!

I live in Illinois, surrounded by Packers haters. I couldn't care less actually.

But, Manda is right about the call. It was reviewed by a regular ref (not a replacement) and the offensive team always gets the possession call in a situation like this. It's in the rulebook.

I have a good friend who is a replacement ref, although he wasn't at that game. He has made a few mistakes himself, which have ended up on Youtube, unfortunately for him. The thing is, they ALL make mistakes. The replacements make mistakes at $3000 a game and the regulars make mistakes at $8000 a game.

In the end it's just a stupid game, in my opinion.

My Facebook feed was insane! Footballbook! All my friends agreed that it sucked to win that way, but mostly people are referring to it as Super Bowl XL redemption, right Libby? And true that green bay wouldn't have scored earlier if not for another bad call. So we should have won anyway! (go seahawks!) there's my humble, silent celebration :)

Because the refs had the opportunity to watch it in slow motion, from different angles, I am assuming that there is a lot of technical stuff about who, how, when, for how long, etc. a ball is "in possession" that I don't know in the NFL. There will always be good calls and bad calls. I don't know how people can fume over it as long as they do.

And I don't think Seattle has any problem sleeping (as someone asked) because every player and coach on that team has been involved with sports for a very long time. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose on a bad call. Refs are humans. Is life fair? No. This is what my kids heard me say over and over again: "Life is not fair and the sooner you figure that out, the better off you are going to be." (Whining was not tolerated at our home.)
