yeah, they can.. Just take her to the ped. and see what he says.. He'll probably give you some meds to make it smaller.
I just picked up my daughter (almost 2) from my moms and she said that her butt was bleeding a little after she pooped. I went to change her diaper before bed and wanted to check it out and saw a little piece of skin almost looked like a tiny worm coming from her anus. I didn't want to touch it cause it freaked me out. Can babys get hemmroids? Has anyone else seen anything like this??? Should I call the Dr??
Thanks for all your responses. I learned a lot from them. Luckily, she just has a skin tag. Looks a little strange but it's nothing to worry over. Thanks again!

YES!!!! She needs to be seen as soon as you can arrange it. Was her stool hard? I had a child I once cared for who had allergies like carzy and if she drank the wrong kind of milk (parents use to never take enough milk for her when visiting and would give her something wrong) her stool would be so hard she would be constipated. When she would go she bled a lot. Really messed her up. She was suppose to drink fat free milk. Parents would give her vitamin d or regular milk. Too much fat and if she had too much juice she would have severe runny poo.
Hi, A. --
I will bet that the other Moms saying that it's baby hemhorriods are correct. I'm sure you'll be taking your little girl to her pediatrician to be sure.
But, I also wanted to add that there's something called "pin worms" which kids can get. I'm not sure how they're transmitted -- probably hand to mouth, like most other kid junk is.
Children with pinworms will sometimes exhibit a lot of crankiness, fidgetyness, and, of course, bottom-"picking". The worms will reveal themselves after the child's been inactive for a while (such as sleeping) and will be visible in the anal area (and maybe poop, too?).
I'm not an expert on it (but, according to my Mom, I was affected by this several times as a child, once I was preschool age). I'm sure you can find info online.
Good luck!!

A., I just watched something about this on Oprah yesterday, and it is fairly common in children. It could possibly be a parisite. They say that the mom comes out of the anus to lay her eggs, which will make your childs butt itch she will then itch and spread it to her fingers and pass it on to someone else. This is just a possiblity. K.
never have delt with this as a mother or a day care teacher.i would take her to the doctor right away to see what could be the cause of the bleeding
good luck
i definitely think you should take her to the dr or at least call them. something like that needs to be handled by a professional. and it will give you piece of mind. i worked for a dr for 5 yrs, and things like that are good to have in a pts chart in case it were to happen again.
My daughter had this, too, probably at about the same age. At least from your description it sounds the same. She did not have the bleeding but, when I took her to the dr, they said she had a tear. She was having very large, hard bm's which was the cause of this tear. You will need to make sure her bm's stay soft or it will make matters worse. I would definetly have her checked by her pediatrician but, in the meantime, I would not freak out! Good luck!
Ok, not to sound gross, but there is a bug called a "pin worm" that I know of. I don't know a lot about them but I know that they can be found in the bowel movement and if that's so, you'll have to get antibiotics and it will help you get rid of them. If she doesn't have them (they're little white worms) in her BM's, then no worries! I know that my girls have had a little blood here and there after a BM, but it was during potty training and they wanted to hold in the poop so it constipated them and they couldn't hold it anylonger and it hurt to push it out...via, a large BM and some blood.
I'd call the doctors to be safe and just ask them. It may be nothing at all! But it doesn't hurt to call them!!!
A.,
Hi! I have two things regarding this. One, it could be something called pillworms or pinworms, can't remember exactly. I think if its the above you are supposed to be able to see them at night in the dark, so maybe you should check her at night. The other thing my niece had was after she pooped (or even during) actually part of her colon would come out with the poop. Its weird, but my sister talked to her doctor and he said to just gently push it back in. I still would see a doc asap. Now, my niece is fine, I don't think it does that anymore. Hope it helps.
Take her to the doc! Kids can get a certain type of worms that show up in their feces. They are called pinworms and apparently they can live in the intestine. I've read about them and I'm pretty sure the doc can give you a treatment for her to take care of them quickly. I hope this isn't the case, but its better to be safe!
A.,
Yes Iw ould call the doctor and get a appt. Let the doc check it out. Better to be safe than sorry. It may be that she just had a harder than normal stool.
Good Luck!

Babies can indeed get hemorroids, but it is not very common. They can be caused just by the way the baby was built or they can be a result on an underlying illness. It could also be some kind of intestinal worm. Either way, call your pediatrician and I'm sure they will want to see her so they can make sure everything is OK. My friend's son had hemmoroids from the time he started eating solid foods, had surgery for them when he was 4 years old, and has been fine ever since (he's now 7). So, try not to freak and go see the pediatrician :)
If you are that freaked out, A., take her to the doctor! I have heard of little ones getting hemmroids but it is more likely that she has picked up worms from a family pet, or being out learning the world. It happens, but she will need treatment. I would take her to be checked out. If it was me. Good luck and Prayers!
I never knew this, but rice cereal and bananas, some of my daughter's favorite food, causes constipation. Prunes and pears can relieve that - if your daughter's bleeding is caused by constipation. I'm sure you are going to call the dr. and probably you're just wondering if it is or was a worm - should you have done anything. But from a website I just looked at it says, "remember that pinworms are quite common among kids and aren't harmful" so if you are wondering what you should do between now and the dr. if you really do think it's a worm - just try to be patient, read up on pinworms (they're the most common) and try not to be too freaked out! :)
I would definately call the doctor if you haven't already. Just tell the nurse about it and they should get you in right away. Does she seem like she is in pain when she does go poop? Or is it hard? Those are some signs of constipation and the doctor will probably ask you that and how often does she go is another thing they will want to know. But you should call.
take her to the doc I think there is some kind of worm that babies can get (they put things in their mouths and get germs) my oldest had gotten them when she was around 2 and a simple antibiotic killed them. It had nothing to do with cleanliness either...germs. Babies also can strain from pooping with a change in their diet and bleed a bit, this is what I read in the first years book as I have an almost 5 month old and it was like starting over with the huge gap in my kids ages.
Hi A.!
No need to be freaked - although it still may be a cause for a slight concern. My son had this issue when he was 5-6 months old. I got a call from his daycare saying there was an abundance of blood in his stool - which of course is scary by itself! And after a few more diapers like this, I took him to the dr. and told me he just had a baby hemmoroid - yes, looking like a little 'worm' in the toosh. It eventually went away on it's own now that's he's 7.5 months old. It may rear its ugly head again if he has a large poop and has to strain to get it out. Ask your dr. first, but I just put a very small bit of Preparation H and some Desitin diaper rash cream on it to soothe him, and he was fine. That thing can't be comfortable! I'd have it looked at to be 100% sure that it's not something more serious though. Don't worry, you aren't the only one out there! :) Hope this helps and good luck!
You should take her to the doctor right away! Urgent Care is open on Sunday. I wouldn't wait another minute if I were you.
My granddaughter had that to. She was easy constipated, therefore she would strain. It was a piece of skin. My son and daughter took her to a surgeon and he removed it surgically. My advice is to take her to a pediatrician and he can refer you to a surgeon.
I don't know A., I would DEFINATELY call the dr.
Good luck!

Does she suffer from constipation? Both of our children have chronic constipation and have had this issue. They can get hemroids. Once my daughter had a purple ring around her anus from a large hard BM. Talk about freaked out-
Miralax and fiber products help us. good luck
It could just be an anal tag. (looks almost like a skin tag) My daughter had one when she was younger. She's now 5 and it's gone. The dr. said it was normal. I would still get it checked though just in case.
Could it have been an actual worm? This may sound gross but one of my brothers got something as a kid called pinworms that was spread like a cold that live in the intestinal tract. They were tiny little white worms. It was easily treated, and we all had to be treated, but they can cause itching and a little bleeding. I hope this doesn't scare you worse but I thought you might benifit from another possibility! And I am not positive about the baby hemmroids, but I would imagine if she was straining to use the bathroom regularly she could have hemmroids.
if she was constipated and had to strain really to get out a hard poop she could have torn her little rectum and have an anal fissure(sp). a girl i work with had that happen to her little girl. i'd call her ped and see what they say.
If she has had constipation problems it can cause hemorroids. I would still ask the Dr. because she could have something else. It never hurts to check.
I would definitely call your Ped asap, just to question him/her. It might be nothing but it also could be something that could lead to something serious.
