Gift for Nephew, Is This Idea Cheesy or Good?

I know I just asked one on this subject, and I apologize if I am flooding the system with questions. I forgot to mention this in my last original questions and fear if I edit it now I wont get any response. I am trying to find a good gift for my 21 year old nephew. I was thinking of having a scrap book or small Photo montage done and loaded in a digital picture frame since every single birthday since he was 1, I took him to a restaurant for his birthday and got a picture of us together through the years... I have one for every year. Do you think this would be a cheesy gift to give at 21? or should I wait till he is older to appreciate something like this. I dont want to look the lame Aunt at the party LOL.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

He is a pretty family oriented 21 year old, he has had his share of trouble and attitude and still is a work in progress but deep in his heart I think he is a very good boy, and needs some maturing yet. As some of you said would he appreciate the gift at this age is up to his attitude and I am not sure either. We are close have been for most of his life till he hit about 18 but still pretty close. He is respectful of me and my family and thats more than i can say for others, unfortunately. SO I dont want unduly embarrass him with sappy but I also want to show I love him and think of him always. He had it rough from the start and like to think Aunty M was always around when he needed (needs) it.

I think this is a beautiful gift...and here's something else to consider: Make two copies. Give one to his mother! I'll bet she'll cry.

I do LOVE the idea, and it does sound like you are very close. My personal opinion with 2 -23 year old nephews, a 21 year old nephew and a 21 year old son, I think it will be treasured more later. I'm not saying he won't enjoy it now, I just think it will mean more to him as he gets older.

Updated: Once I read your 'So what happened' I have a completely different thought on my answer. He NEEDS to be reminded of your love and support and I think it will mean a lot to him. I still stand by the part of my answer that he will treasure it more as he gets older. If you're still worried, maybe give it to him privately when you take him out, just the 2 of you to celebrate.

That sounds, really cool.
Cool.
I would love something like that.
You and he seem to be close.... that is nice. I'm sure he will appreciate it.
If he is a decent nice guy... and not an attitude type... I am sure, he will see the specialness of it.

LOVE IT!

Willing to bet IF he has a girlfriend this will REALLY be a huge hit. SIlly as it sounds it's cute when girlfriends gush over the baby/kid pictures of their boyfriends.I bet he'll dig it!

Make sure you buy him a drink BEFORE giving it to him...just to soften him up. :)

I can't see a 21 year old male getting excited about pics of all his birthdays....maybe when he is 71.

It depends on him. If you two are close, like it sounds, I think he'd like it a lot. But even so he may not really appreciate it till he's older. It just depends on what kind of guy he is. Sounds like a great idea. He might just appreciate a new wallet with some cash in it.

Just some thoughts
Good Luck with it.

It's a really sweet idea, but something I would give him privately and not in the middle of his party. I would do it as a small photo album with room for more photos as he gets older. In addition, I would add a bottle of something of the "over 21" nature to the gift so that you are acknowledging his adulthood too, not just his childhood.

At the party... card and a bottle of Jack. Before the party, big hug and photo album.

I like that idea but perhaps when he is 25 rather then 21. Kids don't always appriciate family until they have one of their own. At 21, something like personilzed car mats would be appriciated and while the photos would be wonderful, it will probably get put aside and not appriciated as much as when he is settling down. What I would NEVER do is give a 21 year old a bottle of booze, Jack or any other kind. It gives the wrong message. Yes he is old enough to drink, but to encourage it isn't a good idea.

I think it all depends on your nephew. Is he the kind of 21 year old that would appreciate a gift like that? If so then yes its a good idea and if you don't think he would appreciate it right now maybe wait until he has a family of his own and it will mean more to him then. I think it all depends on what kid of kid (21 yr old) he is
