What do people do for infants hands in the winter? I have a 9.5 month old. Not sure if she'll just try to eat them/take them off.

What can I do next?

Ugh- my ten month old just takes them off immediately and throws them as far away as possible! My mom even tied a string to two mittens, and strung it through both arms of the jacket (across the back). Then my son had a massive tantrum. So now we're gloveless.

But that string idea could really work, for a normal child! :)

I would definitely recommend getting a jacket that covers the hands (the end of the sleeves fold over). I didn't think of it when I bought jackets last weekend and now I'm regretting it. If you don't have that, put the mittens on first and then put the jacket on, so that the ends of the mittens stay in the sleeves. (If there's a gap between the bottom of the sleeve and top of the mitten, they'll get cold and snow will get in there. Plus, they're much harder to take off this way.)

most of the infant coats/snowsuits usually have a "built in" hand covering like a mitten.it simply just a sleeve that has a flap that folds over their hands!

Get mittens - they are the easiest to slip on and don't worry about getting the thumb in the right spot - she'll probably have her hands in a fist anyway! She probably won't keep them on for long - but you won't likely be in the really cold weather for a long time anyway.

I use to get mittens and would tuck the cuffs under the end of the snowsuit so that they would stay on better. I make wool socks for my grandkids and last year my daughter put a pair on my 1 yr old granddaughter's hands instead of mittens. Wool keeps hands warm even when wet.
