We've been to the GWL in Sandusky, OH, for the past 3 years. We. Love. It.
I'd be happy to help you out with any specific questions you may have. :) Just PM me.
So, we've had a change of plans.... due to many factors, we've decided not to do an Orlando trip this year. Instead, we're looking at Great Wolf Lodge. Neither my husband nor I have ever been, so I am looking for tips, suggestions, experiences.
So, what do you recommend for a family of five visiting Great Wolf Lodge? Children will be ages 4, 1 & 1.

Best place ever to vacation.
Request to be on the floor the water park entry is on....doing the elevators with kids sucks.
We lost my oldest when we went one time. We were staying on the fourth floor. he got away from us. Thank god he thought to find someone who worked there. they had that place on lock down.
Also two days is really more then enough. So you will probably save a great deal on that. Get hooked up online before you go too. they can text you codes for discounts at all the featured stuff...like the restaurants...arcade.... all the extras.
we got to the great wolf lodge in grapevine pretty regularly - it's only about 20 minutes from us. it's a really fun place for all ages of kiddos. don't worry about bringing beach towels, they have them at the waterpark to use. let me know if you have any specific questions - i'm sure you'll have a good time!
I've been to the one in Williamsburg, VA twice. It has a program called MagicQuest which is where the kids go around the resort with wands. As they wave their wands across a treasure chest, tree, etc. it talks to them and gives them clues to solve. This can be fun, but if you are like me and travelling with a nephew who is frightened by EVERYTHING, its a real pain!!
They have a new system now so you don't have to carry room keys, your wristband is your room key, your money, etc. Which is handy. The wristbands are supposed to be kept on during your whole trip. For the 1y I would ask them to 'deactivate' the room key and charge feature. I would also 'pin' them to the kids with safety pins.
There is a PizzaHut Express in the lobby. Ice cream/desserts/Starbucks in the lower level. There is a cafe in the lobby ($$$).
If you go to the Willamsburg,VA one, there is a Walmart/Subway, Burger King, IHOP, Sonic on the same street, so food won't be a problem and will cost ALOT less!
You will need cover ups/shoes for going between the pool and room. Each room has a fridge.
For the tv in the room, be VERY careful. Its is very easy to accidentally start watching a Pay-per-view movie. Also, they have a video game channel that is per-view. So if you rent a video and get an hour of time, each time you come back after that, even if you still have 'time on the clock', each restart is a new charge. I unknowingly got charged $45 (over 2 days) that I had to pay at checkout.

We took our kids to the one in TX last summer, it was more expensive than I thought it would be for a single resort (think Disneyland prices). However, with that said, my whole family had a blast! There were areas for every age group including my little 6 month old where she could crawl around in about 3 inches of water and splash to her hearts content. However, my husband and I agreed, the restaurants weren't that amazing so for a couple of meals, we left the resort and went up the road to the mall and grabbed something a little better and cheaper:) Fun place, I'd go back with my kids. Oh, don't miss the pajama story time, my kids LOVED that each night:)
We loved both the one in the Poconos and Williamsburg. Magic Quest is great fun.
We went last year and had a ball. Perfect for all ages! A few tips that might help:
1. They have life jackets for the little ones so you shouldn't need to bring your own
2. The lobby is technically on the 2nd floor so when they offer you a room on the 2nd floor know that it opens up directly into the parking lot. We couldn't use our patio b/c of this (as we didn't want our 2 yo running into the street).
3. The food there is crazy expensive. There are several restaurants close by or bring your own food in. Definitely bring your own bottled water and put it in your fridge in the room.
4. There are ALWAYS coupon codes online somewhere (www.richmondmom.com - I think you can join even if not local -it's free- and they offer a discount of 20% generally). When we went last year, there was a 50% off code. Definitely worth some research.
5. They do have an outdoor section, although small, so bring sunscreen.
6. Have FUN!!!!
We have been to the Texas one a few times. I would only go during the week and preferably during the school year since your kids are young enough. We go on Sunday nights and let them skip school on Monday. It costs much less and way less crowded. On weekends you can barely walk in the place!
There's one 500 yards from my house in Cincinnati. We've gone 3 times, and have had a ball. The water park alone is hours of fun. Outside, there's a large pool and slides I think. (we've only been in winter.) There's pizza, ice cream, bar & grill, and buffet style eateries. Arcade, and strory time in the lobby are fun for kids. Theres a kids corner to do crafts so that parents can get away for a few. There's a really cute salon for little girls called Scoops. I don't know if your 4 yr old is a girl, but it would be lots of fun. The best part, GWL is next to Kings Island, and great amusement park.
We have gone twice to the one in Williamsburg. We go Sunday through Tuesday cause it is cheaper. Since there is five in your family make sure you call to book your reservation because you have two that under the age of two they should not cost you extra and the prices online are for familys of 4. I would not worry about getting any of the fancy rooms cause you are not in your rooms that much so I think it is a waste of money. It does not hurt to ask when you check in if they have any specials going on or some extra discounts. We ended up getting a free room upgrade which was nice. As for the MagiceQuest, it is really cool for the older kids. Your 4 yr old might be interested in it but you can always buy the wand but the game so that way they can still activate the items around the lodge and you can keep the wands and save them for your next visit so then the next time you only have to pay for the game. All the rooms have a mini fridge and microwave in them. We just went to walmart and got things there that we could make in our room for breakfast and lunch and then ate dinner in the restuarant. I think I covered everything. Have fun and hope this helps.
We went to the Williamsburg GWL Sunday through Tuesday. Sunday check-in was an absolute mob scene! The estimated wait time was 2 hours. They did allow us to get wristbands for the rest of our family to go to the waterpark while I waited in line to check in which was helpful. They will call you when your room is ready but be sure to give them your cell number. They called my home phone which, of course, was of no help. Monday night, we we had an offer on our door to exten our stay for an additional night for much less than what we had paid even with a special. So my advice would be to go during the week and book a single night (you get two days of waterpark fun) and then hope that they will have a special offer to extend your stay or move along to another hotel in the area (there are plenty)--especially if you want to spend time in Colonial Williamsburg or see other area attractions. Have fun!
