I used Groupon for Niagra Falls. It worked out well.

My girlfriend used Groupon for a winter trip to Iceland - she and her SO went for 10 days and it was REALLY cheap. And a GREAT time!

I've bought so many Groupons, I have a hard time keeping track of them!

A guy I used to date used Groupon for all kinds of stuff. He got great discounts and never had a problem. He planned and executed a three-day romantic weekend for us in the French Quarter, including meals and a nice hotel, for a few hundred dollars.

I used one for a small hotel/inn I had stayed in before, and it was specific for that inn (no "or similar" language). It was great, no problems, and the inn was happy to have us. We weren't treated any differently. They use it to fill otherwise empty rooms, and figure that the savings get you to spend in the restaurant or bar. Fine by me.

My sister had me look at some hotel "deals" she was looking at on Groupon. I personally wouldn't book them because they specifically said "hotel ABC or similar."
When I travel I like to know exactly where I'm staying, the "or similar" could be anything and isn't really worth saving $10-20 per night in my opinion.
Just read the fine print beforehand so there aren't any surprises.
Also these things are usually non refundable and must be paid in full upon time of reservation, is that really worth it? I always book directly with the hotel, have up to 48 hours in advance to cancel if I need to and don't get charged until I check out.
Again, it's worth the (usually) no more than $10-20 extra per night.

A coworker used Groupon to go to Iceland, in March I think. She had a great time. Groupon usually shows where you would stay. I would check it out and then decide. I used Groupon for a day pass to a water park resort (also a hotel) but we didn't stay overnight. But we had a great time and the people were awesome.

Yes. I've used Groupon for a 5-star hotel on the Atlantic city boardwalk, Hershey park, Sesame place tickets, and more. Awesome experiences each time.

I booked a hotel in Palm Springs and bought the same deal twice. I didn't have any trouble and would definitely do it again.
