Does anyone have a good place to get Halloween Costumes that aren't $70 dollars?
I really like the ones I saw in the Pottery Barn catalog, but they are so expensive.
I wouldn't' mind trying to make one if I could get a cute pattern---Any ideas?
I have a 3year old boy and a 1 1/2 year old girl.
Thanks!
S.

I got my daughter's costume at Once Upon a Child. I paid $8.00 for it. It's a Tom Arma Skunk costume (which goes for $$$$ on e-bay, etc.) They had several racks of great costumes when I was there last weekend. If you're going to try to make one, they have tons of great patterns at JoAnn Fabric.

There are a ton out on eBay. Just check the shipping costs. Some sellers are charging too much.

We usually get some cute one's from Sam's Wholsale. They are the full body suits with stuffed limbs. They really seem to get more cute every year. You have to snap them up fast once they put them out because they go fast.

Babystyle in willowbend mall has GREAT costumes! They are around $24 each. You can order on babystyle.com also. You might want to try and search for the babystyle costumes on ebay since they usually only get worn once. They are ADORABLE!

I also saw the ones in Pottery Barn and fell in love with a couple of them. But who wants to pay $100 for a costume. A couple of years now I have made my kids' costumes using the Martha Stewart Living magazine. The issue I have is several years old now but is full of great ideas that are easy and relatively inexpensive. My kids each won costume contests for the chicken I made and my daughter loved the buterfly I made. Another thing you can try are the Kid to Kid or Once upon on a Child stores, they usually carry seasonal items like costumes. Good Luck! A.

If you don't mind resale clothes, Once Upon A Child has lots of costumes at very reasonable prices.

My 4 year old really had her heart set on being Jasmine this year. The Jasmine costume on Disney.com was about $40 plus extra for accessories. Then, I got an email from the Disney store that they had marked down several costumes 50%. I went to their website and sure enough the Jasmine costume was only $19.99. They also had costumes for infants and toddlers marked down. We got my 8 year old's pirate costume for $29 at the Card & Party Factory located in Hillside Village at the corner of Mockingbird and Abrams.

Try Old Navy website or the store. Costumes are around $20 and shipping is only $5.

I was just at Casa View Thrift yesterday- they have a WONDEFUL plush snake that would fit your boy- it is like a giant stuffed animal= a pair of green seats and you would be ready- they want a whopping $7.00. They had some cute small stuff too.
They are next to the Walmart Market on Gus Thomasson near Ferguson.
