I recently got into a kick of making cute little handmade barrettes for my daughter to wear. They match her outfits and also coordinate with holidays around the year. I started giving them out in addition to birthday gifts for the little girl parties that my daughter gets invited to. Several of the parents have commented about how cute they are and that I should sell them. I wanted to get some thoughts on how I might be able to market them and what works/doesn't work to sell handmade products. I was thinking about creating a website but I am not computer savvy at all. Any names of good, free, easy to create website programs would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.

Barrettes, great idea! I actually buy my bows (& bloomers) on eBay. maybe you can set something up on there. It's always a good start...a lot of the sellers have links to their own websites too. Good luck!
Do you have any pics? I would love to see. I have 3 little girls so I am curious as to what they look like. If you do go into business be very carefull. I would get a booth at a local flea market and don't spend an arm and a leg because if people don't buy you don't want a bunch of barretts and worse lost money.

Hey J.- You should set up a boutique on Etsy.com!! It's a website for handmade items and you can create your own boutique with your own url (mine is www.diaperbagwrangler.etsy.com). The fee to list an item is only .20 and when it sells, they take a small % commission. It's similar to ebay but your listing is active for months, not a week. If you are not big into website design this is the route to go. You can also go to local boutiques and see if they will carry them on consignment, or try craft shows and see what kind of response you get from customers. E-mail me if you have any more questions!

Hi J.: I just saw on the request page that there is a lady looking for a holistic pediatrician. Well on her site she has her own business and she states that she will display other people's products as well. Maybe you can contact her and you could put your barettes in her store. Also, I believe you can get a free website through MSN, Verizon or Yahoo. Check it out. Maybe just type in free websites and see what comes up. Usually they walk you through the steps. I am interested in purchasing some if you can give me more information.
