Has Anyone Had Any Experience with Neurotherapy?

My son, at age 4 months, was given a prognosis of being blind, immobile and mentally retarded. Within a few days we began an alternative neurodevelopmental program. He is 9 now and is very mobile, reads several years ahead of his peers and is doing beautifully. It has made such a difference for ALL my children, that I got certified and now teach parents the information that revolutionized our lives---and more that has been learned since we began 9 years ago.

I have no experience with this myself. I did want to guide you to this website though in case it may be of some help to you. I have seen first-hand the effects and the changes of children with Lyme induced Autism once treated for lyme. (Lyme disease is not only transmitted by ticks.)

My son was recently diagnosed with Lyme Disease, though not autism. He has other neurological and sensory issues though.

Unfortunately, yes and have seen 4 people, including myself, go through a series of sessions over many months for conditions varying from ADD, Dyslexia, ADHD, Anxiety and Depression and more. I wish I had better news to report but the results were marginal and inconclusive at best for all. What I can say is it is very expensive and time consuming and would probably have taken a pass if someone had told me their experience. I am usually extremely positive and open to alternative health care but this one failed to measure up and would hate to see someone else have false hope. My son has developmental delay by 2+ years and he is 5 1/2 yrs right now. His understanding of things is more age appropriate but his delays are fine and gross motor and speech. We recently started a neurodevelopmental therapy program through The National Academy for Child Development and we have seen more progress in the past 6 months since starting than we have in months of traditional speech/ot/pt therapies. Not to say those traditional forms of intervention haven't helped but not enough for my son to ever recover. The web site is www.nacd.org. NACD is very encouraging to parents as they focus on what your child can do rather than what they cannot, and they focus on bringing your child to his fullest potential. As a parent and mom of a special needs child, I can say what you will read on their website, testimonials, is true and not fabricated. Are you considering Dr. Jonathan Walker in Dallas? We just finished our brain mapping with him but have not started therapy. We do go see Dr. David Rosenthal .He is a Neuro chiropractor and I really like him. He gives us brain exercises to do at home. You can google him to get his website. Sorry I don't have it in front of me. The book "disconnected Kid" is very interesting too. We also have a yahoo support group with a bunch of women who really help with everything. If you want to join let me know.
