Hi mamas! So in about an hour I go to hear my baby's heartbeat for the first time! I didn't expect to be so nervous- I spent all morning on cloud nine but as it gets closer the excitement is leaving and now I'm just nervous, lol. I'm doing my deep breathing ;) *ooohmmmmmm*.....

Things have been fine so far, although I've only had one prenatal appointment so far. I see zero reason that there would be any issue. Still, I can't help but feel nervous. Any other mamas remember that feeling? I know, I'm being paranoid! Once I know everything is ok I will be fine... :) Just looking for a little support!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hey ladies! Thank you again for all your kind support. Well they didn't find the heartbeat lol. BUT all my tests are normal, my bp and all those other things are in good ranges. I have a bigger cousin who also never heard the heart beat on any of her 3 children, so I'm thinking there's just too much "cushion". But the good news is, we are going for a sonogram Friday. THEN we'll know for sure - and we'll get pictures. So I'm staying pretty positive. I don't feel like anything is wrong, and she was very reassuring that this does happen. Thanks again!

Sooo last update - all is well! We had the ultrasound on Friday and little baby was right where it's supposed to be, and active as all get out - I wonder if we weren't able to hear the heartbeat because it was moving so much! We got some great snapshots and mama is a happy camper. Yay! Thanks!

I was more in a "I can't quite believe I'm pregnant" state no matter what the blood test said.
I had zero zip nada symptoms.
Hearing the heartbeat finally helped make it real for me.
Enjoy!

Totally normal! I don't think it matters how many pregnancies or how many times you go in for a dopler, you will be nervous every time!

Also, it might take a minute for the doctor to find it. You will probably hear yours right away but sometimes they have to wiggle around to find the baby's. It's like the most horrible 5 seconds of your life, so hang in there! ;-)

For my first time the doctor couldn't hear it so he hooked me up to an ultrasound so he could see it and there it was, nothing to worry about, it was just a little too early to hear it clearly! Don't be alarmed if that happens to you either.

Congrats!

Sending cyber hugs to you... You will be fine.

I was a lot like B (response below me)... even though I took an at home pregnancy test, I didn't believe I was pregnant until the blood test proved it and then my only symptom was bigger boobs suddenly. B is correct... hearing my daughter's heartbeat made it all real!!

Congratulations, Good luck and keep us posted.

Sometimes it helps to remember that technology is not always our friend! Our mothers and grandmothers had missed periods, morning sickness and fetal movement -- no instant pee-on-a-stick pregnancy tests, no ultrasounds, amniocentesis, no fancy monitors other than a standard stethoscope. They had no idea how things were progressing inside - they just waited it out or they relied on their instinct/gut feelings.

So try not to get too hung up on what you hear or see (or don't hear or see) early on. I know that's easy for me to say and hard for you to do! Breathe and you will be fine, I am sure!

Don't feel bad if they can't hear it this time! Honest!

If they do hear it, treat yourself to a mani/pedi!

Of course I am sure many of us were nervous at the first heartbeat, the first kick, the first body shift. It is so normal. If you can try oh try to enjoy it. Of course there will be uncomfortable moments, but most of the time it is just an amazing miracle.
