Help! Possible Worms in Son's Poop

Okay so I know this is gross but I need to know if anyone else has any experience with this. About 2.5 weeks ago my son (he's 2) started having very loose poopy diapers. Not to the point of diarrhea but anything but firm. Well tonight when I was giving him a bath he had an accident and when I was draining the tub so I could sanitize it I came across something that looked long and stringy. I was able to scoop it out and upon closer examination it looked like maybe it was a very tiny/thin organism (like maybe a worm). It was very had even segments that were dark in color with an almost clear patches in between the segments. It was quite long.
I don't know if I am overreacting and have already had him into the doctor once at which point the physician told me that I was just not feeding him a proper diet (he of course came in with that attitude).

I would have him tested with a stool sample. This would be easy to do and if he is playing outside not hard to pick up something along the way. Just one more question....did he eat any bananas? Those little string things might have passed if he had loose stools.

What a blessing for your family to have your mom be such an active part of raising your children with you! I agree with the other posts here. Twice, I have had doctors try to say that my children's health issues were because of something I was doing or not doing only to have another physician correctly diagnose what I thought was going on all along. There is real truth in that saying, "a mother knows best!" Don't let anyone cause you to doubt that!

Hi L.
I would find a new doctor. There is no reason for him to come in with that kind of attitude and I am sure you are feeding him a fine diet. It is possiable for children to get worms and if he does have them you need to get them taken care of. I would asume a new dr would take a stool sample to test for worms and then give him a medicine to get rid of them if they find anything. Good luck and don't let that dr make you doubt yourself about being a good mother. :)T.

Were you able to save it? I would definitely talk to another doctor about doing stool sample tests. But even if the tests are negative, he could still have parasites. There are actually tons of people walking around with undiagnosed parasite problems. We have had issues in our family and have all been treated at one time or another, though never have had your specific one.

Get his stool tested. My sister had worms as a child - if he plays outside and likes his hands in his mouth or nose, it can happen!!
