The Army has a resource for families like you. Look up www.myarmylifetoo.com or ask your husband to find out about the family group where he will be stationed. Good luck, and thanks to your hubby!

My father is in the National Guard, if you need any help I can ask him where to go for it, he has a lot of connections.

I can't speak from the wife perspective, but I can speak from the child's view. My mom married into the Air Force when I was 7. It was hard moving so often and losing all my friends over and over. However, looking back I am extremely grateful for the experiences. I think it made me a stronger and more well-rounded person. If you end up overseas, the Department of Defense Dependent Schools are EXCELLENT! They are better than most public schools stateside, even on par with private schools. The military lifestyle is quite interesting and fulfiling. The wives to stick together. Every base has clubs and organizations for families to get to know each other. It will be hard on you at first getting used to it. Your husband will have a lot of demands placed on him. His schedule will be completely crazy. Once you can accept that you'll be fine. It's a great thing he (and you) are doing. God bless!

Hi A.! My husband is currently in the Navy and we are stationed at NAS/JRB in Fort Worth. Although he is in the Navy, all four branches are represented on our base. Most bases have a fleet and family support center on base (ours is literally across the street from our house on base) that can help you with LOTS of stuff. Good luck! It can be hard, but in a lot of ways it's normal, too. Plus it's nice to buy groceries and other items with no sales tax! Write me if you have any questions or such!

Hi A.,

My name is T. T and I saw your posting and I
just wanted to let you know that I am a ex-military brat for 30 years and an ex-military wife. I sent my husband to Iraq when the war first started in 2003 for 13 months.

I am not going to lie to you it can be really rough!! Especially with a little one. My daughter was only 18 months old when he left for Iraq. With your husband going into the Army and depending on what his MOS(job) is, there are going to be nights, weeks and sometimes months at a time that he will not come home because they are practicing what they were trained to do. But there is support there for you at each military base. There are Family Support Groups (now called something else) that will be your main support for the unit that your husband will be in. The towns around where you will be stationed are really supported of the troops and their families. But, I have to tell you it is a whole different world!!!!! I can honestly say that I sometimes miss that life
but then there are days that I don't. I understand what you are going through, my husband has been contemplating going back in himself.

I hope that this little information has helped you. If you would like you can contact me at anytime at ____@____.com I do not hear from you, good luck and make the best of it!! How often do you get to travel the world?

Sincerely,
T. T

I'm a single Army mom. I've been in for 12 years and LOVE IT!! Although, being a single mom, I've had to spend majority of my career in Reserves, but I'm getting my chance, I'm going to be activated to FT Hood for min. of a year at the end of JAN and I'm so excited. One thing to remember about military people, is we love it and eat it up. I don't think you should have too many problems since you are able to work from home. But you're husband will need your support. Best wishes... D.
