T.S.
I would look at weather.com re the exact temps and regardless of the heat factor bring plenty of water.
I'm going on a girlfriend trip to AZ and we plan to do a morning hike at Camelback tomorrow at 8am. It's a lot warmer there than here in VA! Has anyone gone this time of year/that time a day? Will I need a sweatshirt or is tank top ok?
We did it! It took us 1.5 hours up and 1 hour down. I'm not a hiker (even here in VA) so your tips were helpful. We got started a little later than planned, by the time we got 9 moms out the door, parked and made it to start of trail it was 845am and 85 degrees. But dry heat is def better than the humid heat of the east coast. I brought water but you guys were right, I needed more water! Next time I will carry a light back pack or waste belt so I can carry 2 bottles of water instead of one and be hands free. On the steep parts you want your hands free for balance or to actually climb rocks. It was fun and rewarding, you def have to be in decent shape and not scared of heights to make it to the very top (there are good stopping points along the way if the top is too much). Last point, I wore 30 spf on my body and 50spf on my face/chest. No sunburn after 2.5 hours and lots of sweat.

We're still in the 100's here during the day. You won't need a sweatshirt and you will want to go early.
Have fun!
Download weatherbug or an app like that. Put in the zip and it will give you the weather by day or by hour of day.
Nope, it should easily be in the 80's by 8am. The views are great, enjoy!
If you are from VA and a hiker - you should KNOW what to bring.
You will need WATER.
LAYER clothes - long sleeve and tank on the bottom. As you get up higher, it can get cooler.
Sunscreen
Notify the Ranger where you are going.
Make sure your cell phone is fully charged and you have a back up battery or charger (they are small and light weight).
Don't forget a hat.
LOTS OF WATER!!!!
It must have showed you Camelback in the Poconos in PA. You'd need a sweatshirt there!
All you need is lots of water. We folks here in the East don't understand how dry it can be out there and how much water you'll need since you won't sweat like you would if you hiked in VA!
Have fun. AZ is awesome!
It's still 100 here but now starting to cool off. It's still "warm" in the morning so you don't need a sweatshirt and it doesn't cool off the higher you climb. lol It's all desert, rocks and dirt. And don't want to scare you but people who are not used to hiking here and are from out of town have died. So make sure you take a LOT of water. And if you wear a tank, make sure to use sunscreen or you will get fried. Good luck and have fun! Welcome to AZ!
Thank you! I forgot to mention I did type in camelback into my weather app and it said the current temp was 50 something. It didn't seem right to me which is why I wanted to ask group. And I'm glad I did! Putting in zip instead was helpful and so was the local persons response. Thank you!
