I live in beautiful, sunny California and have picked a huge amount of tomatoes from my garden. I want to make salsa and have red onion, garlic and cilantro on hand. I thought I would ask my trusted cyber friends first before my fallback option...allrecipes.com.

So ladies...do you have a favorite salsa recipe to pass on to me?? My hubby and I would appreciate it!!

Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Sending out a gynormous Thank You to all you mamas!! The salsa was delicious last night with our tri tip tacos. I incorporated many of your ideas. I plan to make a couple batches of it today too. I will use less sugar and give it more fire! Also...my Roma tomatoes were kinda watery so I had soupy salsa.

I can't wait to try out the salsas with mango...strawberries...pineapple(not all at the same time) on another occasion. I was blown away by the pics. that Mama L. has on her blog. Beautiful pics..made my mouth water!! Check them out!!

Thank you again everyone...I love the support this site provides mamas in need whether it be a salsa solicitation, childrearing challenge or cleaning quandry.

Ours is mostly a chunkier, pico de gallo type recipe. But, you can also blend it a bit for more of a salsa, and omit the black beans. Then I just play around with the taste till it's perfect. Sometimes I add basil, though it's usually just fresh cilantro and/or chives.

My husband's secret... add a few strawberries and lightly heat on the stove top. Sometimes, we add in fresh mango. My husband just made an amazing salsa last week and I wrote his recipe down, but can't find it! I will surely post about it when I do.

So envious!! Mine is pretty basic and I don't really measure but here you go... enjoy!

chopped tomatoes
chopped cilantro
fresh lime juice
green or red onion
crushed garlic
salt
black pepper
jalapeno and serano pepper (to taste or leave out jalapeno if too spicy)
sometimes 1/2 tsp or so of sugar

Add some lemon juice to it too.
I do mine, not with a recipe... but just according to taste as I make it.
Can also add pineapple. Chopped finely.

6 Roma tomatoes, 1 serano pepper, handful of cilantro and white onion. Put all ingredients in the food processor. Simple and yummy. You can add salt or garlic to your taste.
