I was just taken by a story on the Today Show...Which I normally do not watch.

It was an interview with the mom who threw herself over her children to save them from a Tornado. Loosing her legs in the process.

It brought me to tears.

I can only hope that in a time of danger I can think so clearly and just act:)Selflessly.

God save her from anymore tragedy:)

I do not know what type of Question to ask you guys......But Thank you for bringing you to this site:)

How is the weather outside today?

We surprisingly woke up to a dusting of snow.....Odd for a Tuesday Morning in MARCH....In Washington...That is what I get for not watching the news to see a weather report:)

What can I do next?

Hi Tad-

Cold this AM...going up to 50 this afternoon. We had perhaps 2 flakes of snow yesterday, not the 2 inches I had hoped for :(

I was truly moved by that story! The presence of mind her kiddo had to scramble out of that mess (that WAS their brand new home..**sigh**) and get help is truly something!

Best Luck!

To answer your question, it's supposed to be upper 50's here today and it's sunny and bright! :)

I did see the Today show...I watch it every morning until I turn on cartoons for a short while. I actually had tears! All those people affected...I can't get my mind around what it would be like to go through t hat! I pray they all find peace and get through this.

That mama is a testament to what a strong mama is...and I can only hope to have that strength and dedication for my kids, always.

Have a great day!

i think you would :) i think we all (ok, most of us) would. just by being on this site i think we are parents who do our best because we love our kids so much. i like to think that if anything would bring out my best it's my child. so far that has been true, although not in a life-or-death situation thank god.

It's even more odd when you wake up to snow on a Tuesday in MARCH! lol
I didn't read that story but I certainly remember all the backlash I got for asking why people live where tornadoes hit.
I think that as mothers and fathers we automatically, without thinking, would save our children. I know that when we had our car accident my son was 3 weeks old and the paramedic said that I did not stop asking WHERE IS MY SON? for 1/2 hour. I have no memory of that 1/2 hour but glad to see that I was concerned!

I read that story this morning. It's very moving that not only did the mom save the kids by covering them... but that the boy also got out and saved his mom. Its good to know that when tragedy hits everyone rose up and helped save each other!

Today started out chilly but its suppose to work its way up to upper 50's. I think I'm going to open the doors and windows and get some of that fresh air in! Only wish I had clothes line to hang our sheets out on.

I KNOW you would do the same for your boys Libby, you are a good Mom. Dont doubt :)

Like others said, I think it is just built into us once we become parents to protect our kids no matter what the consequence. It's that fighting instinct. I know that I would do WHATEVER means necessary to keep my son safe.

It's our love for our children and our families.

And yes March snow is crazy! We went from a stormy, wet, and windy day yesterday morning, to beautiful sunshine in the afternoon, to waking up to an inch of snow this morning. What is going on?! Lol

I know. While I cried watching it, the story made me so happy.

That woman thought quickly.

She has to have her legs amputated so I pray she will recover w/o incident & can adapt to her new life with it's changes.

I commend that brave woman!

Our newspaper printed the story and included info if you want to help the family. I keep thinking about her future - all the insecurities and even vanity issues she'll have to deal with. I pray her act of heroism will provide her dignity and courage and inspiration for the rest of her life. and I hope her children will never forget what she did for them.

I suspect she will be on the Ellen show as soon as she is able.

I saw this story and was very much in awe of this Mom. She did what I would hope to be able to do in a similar situation. Even with as much pain as she is probably in, I am sure that she is thrilled that it worked out like it did. She saved her children's lives and they came out of this without a scratch. She is truly a hero.
