How Do I Get This Fingernail Polish Off???

I had it put on professionally and it is the kind where they use the UV light and it is super shiny and lasts way longer. I had no chips but my nails have grown and it looks terrible. I can't get it off. I have scrapped/pealed a couple off (yucky I know), so now it looks even worse. I have had this polish on for almost a month. I have tried regular polish remover and 100% pure acetone. Does anyone know what will work? I can't stand my hands.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

It is off!!! I basically soaked it and then scraped it like many of you suggested, because that was the only option I had time wise. If I had asked this question in advance of already making a mess of my nails I would have either went back and had them fill it (which I had no idea was an option) or had them remove it. Thanks everyone for your help. Time will tell if I attempt this again or stick to the "regular" stuff in the future.

You need acetone to get it off. If you're using acetone-free remover, it's not going to budge.

I suggest going to the salon and having them remove it. You're really supposed to go get them filled when they grow out, not just rip them off. Getting them filled keeps them looking new.

Best of luck!

This is the shellac polish and it will NOT come off without the salon doing it. They charge a few dollars to remove it with a professional remover. i tried it myself - BAD idea. They just wrapped tissue over my nails and it flaked off.

It is the Shellac polish. I have been getting the Shellac polish done regularly on my nails and I love it! You can get it off yourself this is what my nail lady told me to do. Break the seal of the polish by lightly filing the polish. Don't file down far enough to reach the nail just enough to break the polish a bit so the acetone can penetrate it. Then soak your nails in 100% pure acetone for like five minutes. At this point you will see the polish peeling up and off, then just use a little wooden stick(sorry forgot the name of it but you can buy them by the nail stuff at Target) and get it off completely. You may also need to buff them a little also. Good luck!

They told me that the 100% acetone remover would take it off. Ultimately I returned to a nalon salon to have it removed.

Try soaking cotton balls in the 100% acetone and wrapping it around each finger tip with aluminum foil and let it set for 15 - 20 minutes. Remove the foil and acetone soaked cotton ball and attempt to peel the polish from your nail.

This is what I think I observed that the technician did when I gave up and had it removed in the salon. There was a $5.00 fee to have it removed when not being replaced.

These are gel nails. I get them every 2 weeks and love it. They completely reapply the gel every 2 weeks. They have me soak my nails (just the finger tips) in pure acetone for 20 minutes then it peels off. Use a 4 sided buffer block to smooth them out. It really would be a lot easier for you to have them do it.
Hope this helps!

I use the Red Carpet Gel products for Ulta. I think the remover is pretty much pure acetone. What they say to do is use a nail file to scrape the top of the nail to basically break the seal. Soak a cotton ball in the acetone, put it on your nail and wrap your nail in a small piece of aluminum foil. Leave on for 10 min. The polish comes right off when you remove the foil.

Just go in a salon and ask if you can use the remover they have. I did it one time and they gave me a cotton ball and I took it off myself.

You need to soak your nails in acetone for at least 20 minutes, then scrape/dig it off. It's easier to have it done at the salon.
